Salute 2018 Haul

The concluding post to our Operation Sealion 2018, the haul, the loot, the gathered goodies and shiny stuff made from metal, plastic and resin. If you're going by plane, make sure to have enough empty space in your luggage to cope with your buying. As mentioned before, I was quite happy about the shipping services of some of the companies (and that is the reason, why this post was postponed in comparison with the other coverage, as I was waiting for the remaining miniatures and kit to arrive).

But let's begin, this pile of boxes and blister is my yield of our trip to Nottingham and Salute. Let us begin with the main event, the Salute 2018. The South London Warlords did once again a great job with the show, and I made sure to get my hands on the 1918 memory event exclusive vignette, sculpted by Perry Miniatures. It shows a trio of Soldiers from World War one, a french, a british and a german soldier. The always have further souvenirs at their booth, so I made sure to grab two sets of dices (with a poppy on the six), a badge and a copy of last years female russian standard bearer miniature.

At Mantic Games I digged in to the new plastic vehicle kits. I'll cover the Accuser Interceptor, Sturnhammer Battletank and Veer-myn Tunneler in a review. For The Walking Dead I made sure to safe myself the new event exclusive blister, that includes a Zombie Rick. Oh and I got a Hellboy from the currently running Board Game Kickstarter!

Later at Warlord Games I grabbed the two new Landsknecht boxes (Michael, you did an amazing job on these!) and the new Winter Germans. And I couldn't say no to the vehicles kits of the Panzer 38t and the Jagdpanzer 38t aka Hetzer. Used the chance to get the collectors miniatures for the supplements as well.

At Warhammer World I had a few items on my wishlist, mostly from the exclusive merchandise range. They released a reprint of Realm of Chaos Slaves to Darkness, that I bought. I was looking for one for quite some time, but they are usually quite expensive 2nd hand and to get one in a proper condition (bear in mind, this book was released 30 years ago) it nearly impossible. And it works quite well with my original Warhammer Fantasy Battle and Rogue Trader rule book (conditionon the last one isn't the best, but still good enough to not replace it with the other reprint). Looking forward to 2020, when they hopefully release the other Realm of Chaos book, The Lost and the Damned. The other two blisters are for Blood Bowl, I got a Necromunda mug and pin, as well as the collector coins from the Warhammer World exhibition. Those are 2 quid each.

Now continuing with the loot from Saloot, erm, Salute. Yeah, I know, bad pun, feel bad for this. Well, slightly... At Empress Miniatures, I got a copy of Painting War Spanish Civil War. This was promoted with a limited miniature, but the original one was sold out, so I got a different limited miniature, an armed priest. Sculpted by Paul Hicks, like the remaining SCW range. I got a 8,8 cm Flak crew and an U-Boat Crew. Those will fit nicely with my Footsore / former Musketeer Miniatures IRA and old Bolt Action.

And my 28mm german vehicle armoury isn't full enough, happy to see the new cooperation of Heer46 and Rubicon Models for the Krupp Steyr Waffenträger and finally got my hands on the Ehrhardt E-V/4 Straßenpanzerwagen by 1st Corps in 28mm. 1st Corps offered a discounted pre-order for the show.

At Footsore I pre-ordered a couple of IRA / Inter war troops, that will work quite well with my German Interwar forces (along with the Empress SCW), as those are all sculpted by Paul Hicks. If you order for a certain amount at Footsore, you receive a free bonus miniature. They change it every month or two, I got a nifty Dark Age chieftain. Oh and I couldn't say no to that amazing Gangs of Rome starter set, Blood on the Aventine. Be sure to see that one reviewed on here!

At North Star Figures  / Osprey Games I got a single elven sprue and at Crooked Dice, I bought a set of Movie Heroes along with two Buggies (Gaslands in 28mm anyone?). Wargames Illustrated offered a pre-order on some of their Giants in Miniatures, and every order of 10 GBP and more got a free druid along with it.

So a lot of new stuff for my treasure chest of limited miniatures 🙂

Like I said in the show coverage, I had a great time. Got good deals at the show, GBP/EUR ratio was in favour to me and saving the usual 20% shipping rate along with show offers, made many items more than appealing.

Most of the things shown in this post will be covered in reviews within the next few weeks and months. If you have any wishes or suggestions, that I should cover in those reviews, like could you show that kit next to a specific other kit or miniature, just let me know. If you'd like to see your kit reviewed on chaosbunker, drop me an e-mail.

Have a great week and enjoy the amazing weather this week!
