TabletopWelt Paint Meeting 2025
It was that time again: the Tabletopwelt painting meet-up took place and drew us to Lützensommern at the Rittergut. You can find my report on the 2024 painting meet-up here, so we'll skip some basic information about the location this time.
The weather was better as well. Although it drizzled a little in between, the fact that it was a good 8 °C warmer than last year was a welcome change.
As I was very busy last week, I started packing early. In addition to my painting supplies, I also brought something for the open bar. In addition to the full board provided by the youth hostel (including a fridge stocked with delicious Vita-Cola), many participants bring snacks or drinks from home, some of which are home-brewed. On the way there, I stopped at Haribo and picked up one of the large mixed kilo boxes. Later, numerous other sweets and snacks were added.
There were just under 35 of us and we found plenty of space in the knight's barn. The large tables and generous lighting created a good atmosphere even before we had unpacked our things. We painted, sculpted, primed and rebuilt, and took the opportunity to exchange ideas. Creative block? Not here! We asked our neighbours at the table, and we were able to continue. This is something I have always appreciated about painting sessions, and I am enjoying it very much here again.
Our group took up most of the rooms again this time. Since there were three of us, we had a small holiday flat to ourselves and, as before, very short distances to the barn and to the meals.
Holger had his classic greenskins with him and was busy painting gretchins and tiny checkers.
Florian had a bunch of large models with him and spent the weekend working with oil paints and washes.
In my case, I had two single figures and a Blood Bowl team with me.
Of course, there was also a small exhibition of painted miniatures. I particularly liked Hauke's retro-style Chaos army for ‘The Old World’.
Later in the evenings, we also played games, including Worms and Blitz Bowl.
A lesson for next time: I'll bring my slippers with me!
It was once again a very successful weekend. I was able to get two new fans excited about the painting weekend. They did not regret their participation at all. So on Sunday around noon, we headed back with a packed car.
Once again, many, many thanks to Robert for the great organisation and to the team at the Rittergut for their hospitality. We are looking forward to next year, and the dates for 2026 and 2027 have already been set:
- 27–29 November 2026
- 19–21 November 2027
