Star Wars Shatterpoint – Requesting Your Surrender Squad Pack
We're sticking with the Asmodee/Atomic Mass Games product range, but changing the setting to Star Wars. This is the second Shatterpoint squad pack we have covered on here, after Wisdom of the Council. The Requesting Your Surrender squad pack for the Galactic Republic includes Jedi Master Kit Fisto, his Padawan Nahdar Vebb, and three Clone Troopers, including Commander 'Fil' CC-3714.
The SWP37 Requesting your Surrender Squad Pack has an RRP of 59,99 USD and contains five miniatures for the game.
- Jedi Master Kit Fisto
- Padawan Nahadr Vebb
- Three Clone Troopers, including Commander "Fil" CC-3714
Similar to the ARF Troopers we covered for Star Wars: Legion, these figures are part of the Clone Wars timeframe. Asmodee/Atomic Mass Games' Star Wars games both cover two timeframes: they both take place in the Star Wars universe, but are divided roughly into the Clone Wars era (22 to 19 BBY — Before the Battle of Yavin) and the Galactic Civil War era (4 BBY to 5 ABY).
The game material is available in five languages: English, French, German, Polish and Spanish. This will be streamlined in upcoming products; at least, the German translation will not continue in the case of Star Wars: Shatterpoint (Legion will not be affected).
The assembly instructions need to be downloaded separately. You can find the link via the QR code on the 'Read This First' leaflet, or go directly to the product page.
All five miniatures in this set are included on a single tightly packed sprue with all the parts needed for the two Jedi and three Clone Troopers. There are two identical sets of four 40 mm round bases.
We grab the sprue and bases and get started!
The first miniature we are going to build is that of Jedi Master Kit Fisto. The Nautolan is depicted in a dynamic pose, leaping off a broken statue. The assembly was straightforward, and the connection on his foot is surprisingly stable given the small surface area.
This character appeared in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and the Clone Wars series.
Kit Fisto's Padawan, Nahdar Vebb, who is a Mon Calamari, was introduced in the Clone Wars series. He has a less aggressive pose than his master.
The two Jedi are supported by a group of three clone troopers, including Commander "Fil" CC-3714. He is a character who only appeared in the Clone Wars series. These models are built as seen and do not have options. Unlike the ARF Troopers, there is no choice between helmets and bare heads. Nevertheless, the poses are dynamic and fit the purpose.
Here you can see the fully assembled squad pack.
Of course, we also want to show you the comparison between the Shatterpoint and Legion ranges. As you can see, they are quite similar in size, but there is still a significant difference. In the first picture, a Shatterpoint Clone Trooper is shown next to a Legion ARF Trooper. In the second picture, the Jedi in the middle is from the Legion range. Depending on the miniature's race, the size difference will be less noticeable, and this isn't usually an issue for most terrain pieces.
As mentioned above, the poses are well suited to smaller skirmishes like Shatterpoint.
Conclusion
We have a reasonable price tag of almost 60 USD. While this is higher than the price of the Wisdom of the Council, the inclusion of an extra miniature makes this price increase understandable.
In terms of product quality, there is nothing to argue about. Assembly was smooth and issue-free, and the details are properly cast. Cleaning up was quick and easy.
I like the mixture of the Squad Pack: Jedis supported by Clone Troopers rather than a full circle of Jedis like in the Council. However, I would have liked the option of bare heads for the clone troopers. If you don't like the fate that befell Kit Fisto and his squad, nobody is stopping you from painting them differently. You could do a personalised crest or armour decoration on the clone troopers, for example.
