Warhammer – The Big Summer Preview Show 2025 Part 2

Due to the size of the The Big Summer Preview Show we split our coverage into two parts, part 1 covered all the Sci-Fi topics on the Warhammer 40k and Horus Heresy, and in this one we're going to cover the Old World until the Age of Sigmar.

Warhammer - The Big Summer Preview Show 2025

Just like in part 1, we're going to go through the announcements not in chronological order, but by gaming system.

Let us start with Warhammer The Old World. While the Tomb Kings of Khemri were re-released as a starter with mostly classic miniatures and only the High Priest on Necrolith Bone Dragon, they received the treatment some of the more recent released received - double character packs!

Warhammer The Old World - Tomb Kings of Khemri Royal Heralds Warhammer The Old World - Tomb Kings of Khemri Liche Priests

  • Royal Heralds, classic double pack of a character on foot and mounted, including the Battle Standard.
  • Liche Priest get the same treatment, a double pack with a priest on foot and mounted, replacing / adding to some of the classic miniatures

Warhammer The Old World - Arcane Journal: War of Settra’s Fury Warhammer The Old World - Arcane Journal: Dawn of the Storm Dragon

And not just one but two Arcane Journals, one about The War of Settra's Fury, playing in the border region (hint-hint) between Empire and Bretonnia, covering smaller games and allied forces, and a second Arcane Journal, Dawn of the Storm Dragon, moving Miao Ying into focus, covering Cathay fighting against the Chaos Invasion, and introducing allied force for Cathay / Empire.

But now moving forward inside the timeline, to Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar - Flesh-eater Courts Battletome Warhammer Age of Sigmar - Flesh-eater Courts The Charnel Watch Spearhead Warhammer Age of Sigmar - Flesh-eater Courts High Falconer Felgryn

While they started this slot with two undead factions, the Flesh-Eater Courts and Nighthaunt, each receiving a new battle tome and spearhead Charnel Watch and Cursed Shacklehorde, both with a new character as well.

High Falconer Felgryn adding another court themed addition, instead of falcons he has bats and the Lord Vitriolic, an undead potion maker, would make a great apothecary for an undead Blood Bowl Team as well.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar - Helsmiths of Hashut Army Set Warhammer Age of Sigmar - Helsmiths of Hashut Battletome

The real banger for the Age of Sigmar releases are the  updated CHAOS DWARVES that are now the Helsmiths of Hashut in Age of Sigmar. They are released as an army set, with a full set of new miniatures incl. battle tomb and cards. Lots of old units got an update, and not only from the old metal ranges of the early 90s but the Warhammer Forge Chaos Dwarf units as well.

  • Infernal Cohort with Hashutite Spears / Hashutite Blades, core unit of the Helsmiths with ground up demon juice embedded in their spears, including a Hobgrot musician. You can build them either with spears or swords.
  • War Despot, leader of a Helsmith army, would make for a very cool coach of a Chaos Dwarf Blood Bowl team.
  • Dominator Engine with Immolation Cannon or with Bane Maces. So if you liked the Brazen Bull from Trench Crusade, this is the same concept but with the volume turned up to 12.
  • Tormentor Bombard / Deathshrieker Rocket Battery, an updated model of some of the incredible war machines of the chaos dwarves

But the preview didn't stop there. We even got a prolonged teasers on the wave after the initial release, with a lot more units and characters to return.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar - Helsmiths of Hashut Bull Centaurs and Anointed Sentinels Warhammer Age of Sigmar - Helsmiths of Hashut Infernal Razers Warhammer Age of Sigmar - Helsmiths of Hashut Hobgrot Vandalz Warhammer Age of Sigmar - Helsmiths of Hashut Daemonsmith and Ashen Elder

  • Bull Centaurs, iconic unit of the Chaos Dwarves with the variant of the kit, as Anointed Sentinels
  • Infernal Razers with Blunderbusses and Flamehurlers (update to the Warhammer Forge models and classic miniatures), they are using the ground up demons to power their weapons
  • Hobgrot Vandalz, similar to the Kruleboyz core units, but better equiped through the Helsmiths
  • Daemonsmith, a new wizard, and he can heal your warmachines, and can be build as an Ashen Elder. They kept the fact that the chaos dwarf start to become like stone when they get older.
  • Urak Thar, the first Daemonsmith, on Infernal Taurus (updated Lamasu / Great Taurus) or built as "regular" Daemonsmith on Infernal Taurus.

As if this wouldn't be enough - the Helsmiths of Hashut will receive free rules for Warcry!

Regarding Helsmiths in skirmish games, that is the perfect bridge to Warhammer Underworlds, as there will be a new for Emberguard called Spitewood, covering Helsmiths vs. Sylvaneth, in a new starter set.

And while these new warbands are interesting of course, the 4 new packs for the different alliances get an update and among them is one that is really sought after - the Sons of Velmorn in the Morbid Minions of Death pack. These have been OOP for such a long time and are very hard to come by.

  • Order Warbands Seekers in Shadow
  • Death Warbands Morbid Minions <- super interesting - re-release of the skeletons
  • Chaos Warbands Reavers of Ruin
  • Destruction Warbands Gitz and Goliaths

All four of these alliance packs have a cominbed card deck for all 16 warbands, called Warbands of Spitewood.

And this is our recap of 1,5 hours of Summer Preview, and as initially said - this surely was a BIG preview with a lot of interesting content. I can't wait to get my hands on the Legions Imperialis novelties, and those Helsmiths are surely impressive and well made!
