Mortal Gods – 3d printed scatter
Having access to a 3D printer is a huge asset in our hobby, and while mine was still set up, I used it for Mortal Gods as well.
Dino initially asked me for some pieces for his demo table, so I printed two statues for him. These are items that you can easily pick up for free on Cults.
Over time, demand for additional pieces grew, so I added a few more items to my print plate.
Good resources were the Antique Greek Set by Terrain Essentials and the A Ghostly Odyssey Set by LootStudios. Dino asked me to make a low plinth for the statues, so I cut down the chest from the Ghostly Odyssey set and mixed it up to create some variety.
The owl was a free file from Cults. I also printed some amphoras to decorate the base, as well as antique Greek coins to be used as tokens.
I liked the idea of the coins and decided to print them as a substitute for gems or tokens. I would paint them white, black and gold. For the mission markers, I printed more amphorae and parts from the Skeletal Giant by Wargames Atlantic Digital. I came across a small set of Greek base elements by Edinburgh Miniatures Company. It was just a single buck, but there were some issues that I had to fix in Meshmixer. More on those in an article of their own.
Last but not least, Dino got me hooked on the game, so I decided to create a maritime-themed force. Once again, I went with Wargames Atlantic Digital and printed some pieces from their Greek Hoplites and Cavalry of Poseidon set, which I mixed with Victrix VXA050 plastics.
The cost of printing them is really no issue compared to cast resin pieces — they're dirt cheap! Regarding the STLs, I recommend keeping an eye out for promotional deals on the MyMinifactory Tribes, as buying a single monthly subscription and getting a discount code can work out cheaper than buying 2–3 sets individually.
