Warhammer Day 2019 in Koblenz
Yesterday was Warhammer Day in every Warhammer Store all over the world and I took the chance due to proximity, to stop by at the store in Koblenz.
What's the idea of Warhammer Day? Games Workshop has a larger marketing plan, making it easier to recognise the brand and to enter the hobby. So if most people already call it Warhammer and don't connect it that strongly with Games Workshop (especially like friends or family trying to buy items for you as a hobbyist), it makes sense to bring up the Warhammer brand stronger / more present. Similar with smaller scale games, with less miniatures, offering them as easy to build / faster to assembly kits and products like contrast paint, to cut down the time it takes to put them on the table. Oh and just to point out, Warhammer Day is not Warhammer Fest. We're still waiting for the announcement of the date in Europe / Germany.
The "party guests" were welcomed with cake, cup cakes and cold drinks, along with the Warhammer Day exclusives. Those were a Battle Sister Superior, a store exclusive Funko Pop! Primaris marine that is primed so you can paint it in your own style, a set of 6 strategic markers and a special Warhammer Day pin.
Warhammer Koblenz First Store Anniversary
Games Workshop released an article on the updates on the store anniversaries on Warhammer Community and the local Warhammer Store here in Koblenz will have their Store Anniversary party next friday on November 16th.
It is kind of interesting to have an "actual" Warhammer store around the corner. I've seen the coverage of the events in the old White Dwarfs and some of the goodies or store exclusives pop-up on bring & buys or eBay (sometimes for ridiculous prices). And as the store is right around the corner from where I work, I can drop by and pick up some of these things. Just got the posters for Blackstone Fortress a couple of days ago.
One thing to understand is the slightly "odd" choosing of the date. There is a store opening party, I've covered that one on here as well, and then 3 months after that, the birthday party is held. So, a couple of items that were already available at the store opening, but would normally available not until the actual anniversary were these two, that will be up for sale again.
Warhammer Koblenz Store Opening Party
Today, on August 4th, was the store opening of the new Warhammer store in Koblenz, Germany. I did a preview to this event two weeks ago, A Warhammer store on my door step. The store is located quite central in the city, right next to the shopping mall Löhr Center, so you can get there quite easily by public transport, train or car. I could have gotten there by foot, back in the day when I lived in Koblenz.
Around 10:45 I arrived at the store and there was already quite a queue, some even had brought along their camping chairs, like on the release events of Apple or other large companies. Among the crowd were a couple of cosplayers, resembling the Imperial Guard and troops of the Inquisition. I'm sure you have seen them at events like the RolePlayConvention in Cologne or former Games Days.
