Legions Imperialis – Civitas Imperialis Capitol
On Warhammer Community they showed a new diorama in Legions Imperialis scale that is exhibited at Warhammer World. And one of the center pieces is this capitol building, that caught the eye of many.
Let's reverse engineer it and see, how they build it.
The base uses the new tiles set, of which you'll need four for the combined space. The base layer is a mix from the Forge World Adeptus Titanicus Civitas Warzone tiles (at least the stairs) or using a scratchbuild with the low wall pieces from the Civitas Imperialis wall pieces. The barricades on the corner were kitbashed from the OOP Turbine, Crates and Barricades set.
You could substitute the barricades with the pieces from Civitas Imperialis Ruins sprue.
But the building itself is build from a ground floor of 16 high tiles from the Civitas Imperialis kit, along with further 16 medium tiles from the same kit. I highlighted the used pieces on the sprue here. Depending on how true to the template you want to keep it, you'll need two of the boxes to recreate these two floors. 4 Sprues of the tale tiles, and if you really only want the three medium tiles with the "double fan" tiles 6 of them (which means 3 boxes). And you'll need the pillars to connect the wall tiles. Please note, they are not meant to be angled in 45° right from the box, so you will need to scratchbuild the floor pieces for those orientations.
The next layer, the round base for the dome uses another 16 pieces from the Civitas Imperialis Spire kit, that's four sprues or two boxes. And the tiny topper ontop of the dome is another piece from the spires kit.
As for the dome, initially I thought it was a 3-up of the tanks from Titanicus range, but it is another piece, that can be seen at the Warhammer World, used in other dioramas as well. You could use a styrofoam or plastic half-ball to recreate it.
And that's, how they build the impressive looking Capitol building.
We will try to provide a piece list, in case you want to print this using Grim Dark Terrain files.
