Deth Wizards – Barricades and Markers
We talked about the buildings for our little town for Deth Wizards, but no we need to add a bit here and there, to add details.
The buildings themself are from the Briarwood range by Dark Realm, and they do have their own set of scatter terrain, but I wanted more or let's say different things.
What really inspired me, were the barricades build for Mordheim (Town Cryer issue 03) and the skirmish games in the Generals Compandium / Warhammer Skirmish.
To recreate that, I looked for various items, I could combine, like furniture, barrels and other items, that the civilians would gather and try to build a barrier between them and the unliving. Among others I used the following files:
- Vae Victis Broken Furniture
- Vae Victis Corpses
- Vae Victis Barrels
- Vae Victis Barricades
- DungeonsForge Altar Base
I print on with my Anycubic Mono X 4K and regular Anycubic Resin in Grey, at 0,025mm layer height. For cleaning I use a pre-dip container before I place the bits in the wash & cure.
With the larger barricades I went an unusual way for me and printed them directly onto the plate, as I would with Warmaster files. You need a very flat angle to remove them from the plate without breaking them, if you do so. So be cautious.
I have a few bits that I can scatter around the buildings themself, others I can use as intended for barricades. And while Deth Wizards itself does not use scenario markers (at least not yet), I was thinking about using the corpses in that way, that the necromancers (or their minions) have to reach them or interact with them depending on the scenario.
As you can see, the bits work quite well with the printed buildings from the last article. I have to do a mock-up using the 30 by 22 inch board, to see how much coverage these provide and if I need to build / print more. Ranged attacks aren't the biggest problem with that game, and I don't want to overcrowd the table.
In addition I have some of the Walls and Fences from the Warhammer Terrain range, as I am not entirely sure if we want to add a wall around the city and weither that's going to be the Renedra fortress walls or the ones from the Briarwood Gate House.
