A visit to … Kutami
During my trip to Bremen, I took the opportunity to visit Kutami at their new location in Lloydstraße, at the corner of Lloyd-Straße and Hans-Böckler-Straße. There is a tram stop nearby and a parking lot behind the building, which makes it easy enough to reach.
Before you get there, though, it is worth knowing that this is not a regular store with a broad shop front. Instead, Kutami's new location is rather a walkable warehouse for wargaming and tabletop hobbyists.
As they recently moved, not everything was in its final place yet, but I was allowed to take a few pictures and give you an impression of what is going on there. The space includes a checkout area, several cabinets, and plenty of tables. Especially on the weekends, there is a lot happening, and with boxes full of terrain they are easily able to host mid-sized to larger events.
A peek inside the display cases
The cabinets displayed projects from both gamers and employees, including a few unusual highlights. Beside the very well done bust of a Goblin Rogue, the old Marienburg Landship caught my eye, as did the carmine dragon. Both are from Warhammer Forge. The break room even had a painting area, where employees work on their armies during breaks, which adds a nice hobby-first touch to the whole place.
What makes Kutami especially interesting is the range they cover. This is not just a place for mainstream products. They stock major brands like Games Workshop, including not only the larger game systems but also Specialist Games, alongside third-party manufacturers for bits and greeblies, plus a wide selection of hobby tools and accessories.
Special offers and stock
A few weeks ago, they also had a huge sale on Legions Imperialis, which gathered quite a lot of attention. No surprise with discounts of 30 to 50 percent during that sale. That said, Games Workshop is not dropping the game. Kutami simply had a large amount in stock and wanted to clear some of it before moving into the new location. Even now, there is still plenty of it on the shelves, more than I have seen anywhere outside of Warhammer World at a single place.
New additions to the collection
Of course, surrounded by so many boxes, I could not leave empty-handed. With the next Chaosbunker Classics in mind, I used the chance to stock up on some new-in-box oldhammer. Yes, the box is new and has the current logo, but the Eldar Falcon Grav-tank is still the same kit it has been since 1997. With prices on eBay climbing and no certainty whether it will be redesigned in the current Eldar refresh, I decided not to take the risk and picked up two of them for the next retro army project.
Thanks again to Pascale and his team for having me. It was great to browse the inventory and have a chat with the friendly staff, who showed me around and answered my questions.
Opening hours:
- Monday to Saturday: 11:00 am to 6:00 pm
- Sunday: Closed
Still, it is worth checking their social media profiles before visiting, just in case an event changes the opening times. The online shop, of course, is open around the clock.
