Legions Imperialis – Mechanicum Knights Magaera/Styrix

The Questoris Knights got multiple updates over the time since their initial release for Adeptus Titanicus in 2018. The initial box set was a set of 3 Imperial Knights, and those got an upgrade with the rocket pods and thunderstrike gauntlets (either as a blister pack or full set) to Questoris Knights, and parallel a release by Forge World for the Mechanicum Knight variants of the Magaera and Styrix in resin. And now these resin models have been remade in plastic, which we are going to take a closer look upon today!

This set of four Questoris Knights will go on pre-order on April 19th and will be released on May 3rd for a RRP of 31,50 GBP/41 EUR.

The Questoris Knights Styrix and Mageara were introduced to the Lore of Warhammer (30,000) with the Horus Heresy Book IV - Conquest in 2014. Both patterns have a Hekaton Siege Claw as a melee weapon, but in different designs, and for ranged attacks either a Lightning Cannon in case of the Magaera or Volkite Chieorovile in case of the Styrix.

Legions Imperialis – Mechanicum Karacnos Assault Tank Squadron

In addition to the armoured transport of the Triaros, the Mechanicum now has access to the Karacnos Assault Tank in Legions Imperialis as well.

Using the chassis of the Triaros Armoured Conveyor, the Karacnos is an uparmoured variant to be used in assault operations. The transportation compartment have been replaced by the Karacnos Mortar Battery system. These batteries fire radioactive warheads into the enemy, but that is not covered beside regular rules for mortars in their unit entry in Rise of the Dark Mechanicum supplement.

The Karacnos Assault Tank Squadron of four vehicles will go on pre-order on April 19th and will be released on May 3rd for a RRP of 31,50 GBP or 41 EUR.

Horus Heresy – Mechanicum Ursarax Cohort

Among the new sets for the Mechanicum are the Usarax Cohorts, a unit closely related to the already available Thallax Cohorts.

Horus Heresy - Mechanicum Battle Group Ursarax Cohort Horus Heresy - Mechanicum Battle Group Ursarax Cohort

Both, the Thallax and Ursarax are no robots, but heavily augmented cyborgs. Where the Tech-thralls or Servitors are mind-wiped, these keep a part of their human independent initiative and personality, but are stripped to the bare minimum of their major organs and nervous system and then encased within an armoured mechanical system.

The Ursarax are a rarer sight on the battle field, compared to the more common Thallax, as they fulfill a different role in combat. Where the Thallax have their different types of ranged weapons, the Ursarax are focused on close combat and assault attacks. They are equipped with jump packs and lightning claws, which can be replaced with power fists, and are even armed with short ranged Volkite Incinerator in the middle of their chests.

Star Wars Legion – Priority Supplies

This set has been around for a bit longer, I actually picked it up during my vacation in Spain (there fore the spanish and portuguese description / packaging). As I have a sweet-tooth for terrain, especially objectives and scatter, I picked these up at the local store in Santander (Distrito Zero), especially as I got a discount and paid around 20 EURs for them.

Star Wars Legions - Priority Supplies Star Wars Legions - Priority Supplies

Priority Supplies is similar to Vital Assets a non-core addition to the game, and covers 12 items that can be used for markers, points-of-interest, mission objectives and so on, in detail they are 3 comms stations, 4 moisture vaporators, and 5 supply crates. As the set was released in 2018, it seems that it was discontinued by now, as it no longer listed by Atomic Mass Games or Asmodee - but there are several listings on independent stores, where you can pick it up between 20 to 30 EURs.

Age of Sigmar – Realmscape Terrain

Part of the terrain items from the Stormbringer subscription (issue 55 to be exact) was a sprue of the Realmscape terrain from Age of Sigmar, in this case half of the Domicile Shell. This is meant to be part of the settlements, that the forces of order are building on new realms or reclaimed areas.

The sprues and other complementing pieces were used in various starter sets and expansions. This particular sprue came often with a variant B that would create a medium sized building in progress, along with two statues. We will see the statues in the Stormbringer subscription as well (in issue 65 and 74), but from my understand not the second wall sprue but another copy of this one in issue #69.

With this massive sprue, we can build an L or rather U-shaped ruin. It comes with quite some additional pieces to enhance the amount of detail and not just making it a flat ruin, but provide some depth. Casting is good, reasonable amount of detail and a lot of parts you can easily dry brush. The mould lines are present, but that is usually the case with the terrain due to the thickness of the parts.

Horus Heresy – Mechanicum Krios Battle Tank / Venator

An entirely new kit from the Mechanicum Heavy Support Force is the Krios Battle Tank including the Venator variant.

Horus Heresy - Mechanicum Krios Battle Tank Venator

This vehicle was moved from a former Forge World resin kit into a multi-part plastic kit, covering both variants and three different weapon load outs. You can build from this set the regular Krios Battle Tank (either with Lightning Cannon or Irradiation Blaster) or Krios Venator with a Pulsar Fusil. We do not have a official RRP yet, as the kit is currently only available as part of the Mechanicum Heavy Support Force, but pricing is very likely between 55 to 62,50 EUR.

Horus Heresy – Mechanicum Heavy Support Force

Early in february we saw the teaser for the next Horus Heresy boxed set - the Mechanicum Heavy Support Force! A bit as a surprise, because we mostly saw regular battle groups so far with Legiones Astartes or Solar Auxilia, now the Mechanicum even gets some tactical reinforcement.

Interesting combination regarding the content, as we get variants of existing kits with the Karacnos and Thanatar, and an entire new plastic kit with the Krios Battle Tank / Venator, for a price of 110 GBP/ 145 EUR.

Age of Sigmar – Kruleboyz Da Kunnin Krew

Another former Underworlds warband released as part of the Stormbringer subscription is Da Kunnin Krew in issue 18. Over the entire run, we will see a total of 7 former Underworlds sets being re-released - all without the cards.

Age of Sigmar Warcry – Kruleboyz Murknob with Beltcha-Banna

Not just the Stormcasts should have a banner to rally around, but the Kruleboyz as well. For that reason I picked up a Murknob with Beltcha-Banna.

This one is from the same Dominion Starter set from 2021, the third edition of Age of Sigmar, as the Knight-Vexilor, and is currently available as part of the Kruleboyz / Orruk Warclans Spearhead.
