Paint, Sand and Space Marines

I finally made it and spent some time painting. The miniatures for my warmachine khador project and the markers were primed and i could start putting some paint on those.

Let's get a little closer to the miniatures. Yes, i'm going for green with my Khadors, but i will go more into the details in an upcoming army project I have to say, the PIP restic and the black primer don't come along that well. The finish is rather smooth, to smooth for my taste and even the P3 colors don't stick that well to the surface. After 3 thin layers the black primer is still shining through. I think i'll start using my airbrush for that, its faster and works out better.

At the same time, i continued with Bolt Action. After a big action of putting miniatures on bases, i had quite a large lot to base. Sand, sand and more sand ...

But i was pretty busy on my Bolt Action miniatures, so the shelf fills up steadily. The tanks in the right corner will be covered in upcoming reviews during the Tank-Week, but not only 28mm, 15mm as well. Might become a long tank week 😉

In the last comments the question came up, whats up with the True Scale Space Marines. Well, these were part of an game report for the Tabletop Insider, which was supposed to be released along with the Space Marine Video Game. Rule wise they should been played like the Movie-List, so i needed some super-strong space marines - True Scale Space Marines! The project is from october 2011.

Starting with the Death Company and some more space marine bitz, i started converting the space marines. The third marine in silver is just for scale purpose.

Below you see 2 bolter marines and the heavy bolter marine. Blood Angels Attack!

Who would be the appropiate leader for such a blood angels suqad? Well, that question was easy to answer. The captain from the 2nd edition 40k starter box.

The miniature wasn't easy to set up and I needed quite a handfull of bitz to get there, but it worked out quite okay.

And that is how the complete squad looks like, prolonged, converted and on the fitting bases from PK-Pro.

As the whole thing was planned for a game report, i had to move it up fast on my painting schedule. Therefore there is already some base colors on the miniatures. As i said, base colors, still missing some work and paint to be finished.

Why didn't it go on? Well, in December 2011 the first pictures of the 2012 Games Day Miniature were leaked and it was - suprise! - a Space Marine. But not any space marine, it was the one i took some time converting, the 2nd edition starter box captain.
It killed my motivation a bit and along with other factors, like that other systems are more in need of coverage in a print magazin, the whole thing was postponed.

And here the comparison with the finecast miniature.
