A miniature Odyssey – Greek stories

Now that I've written a few articles about Mortal Gods and have built an army of Hades for the Mythic expansion, I've had a few thoughts on how to introduce the system. The game is still quite young ( just released in 2019 ) and I would like to familiarize new readers with it a bit better. And what is the best way to do that? A story!

What you see in this picture is a typical starter size for the game - four to eight models equal about 125 points and allow games in under an hour. The standard size is usually 300 points.

Together we will slowly paint twice 125 points and once 50, starting with Axon's mercenaries, a dashing bunch of mercenaries on their way to Corinth to take on a new recruit.

The basis is formed by these Periploi. They are basically Hoplites who don't have that much money and whose equipment is therefore lighter.

They represent veterans who are about to earn their living again by taking on various jobs and taking on Dromeas, a freshman.

They are led by Axon, the main protagonist of the story. As you can see, you can already build a complete starter warband from a single frame of light or heavy Hoplites.

I will certainly replace Axon later with another model, but for now I'm quite happy with the majestic pose. He looks like a rock in the surf, and if I'll succeed in playing the scenarios in a nice narrative way, this will also show in the game.

Maybe some of you will even join in as the army grows - let us know and show your progress on our Facebook page.

Greetings from the mercenaries camp
