Warhammer 40.000 – Sisters of Battle assemble
How did the filling of the gaps go? Not bad, patience and a broad network really paid out with this one.
I was able to buy two SoBs with heavy weapons from one seller, an unbuild immolator (whoop-whoop!) and priest from another one and Martin / Zigor, a good friend of mine from the Tabletop Rhein Main (you might remember my coverage of their convention - The Multiversum) made me an offer I couldn’t refuse on a bulk lot of SoBs.
And then I was made aware, that Games Workshop is even still listening two of these as Mail Order products, I went for my local Warhammer store and ordered them up. I had good customer service so far, and paying a bit more, but not having to hassle with these miniatures 2nd hand as well as having shipping charges and such, was worth it.
On eBay UK I got my hands on some Immolator bits, that I want to use with a Rhino chassis to make it pop more. Not cheap but still reasonably priced and relieving me from the burden to have to paint a wild freehand on the sides, I think it was worth it.
The hardest part to get my hands on so far, where the alternate sculpts of the Sisters Superior. I got not response on my search posts, only found them on eBay and usually at offerings above 20 (and partially insanely above 20 EUR, in regions of 35-40 EUR). But with a bit of patience I was able to get both for around 10 EUR each. As they were NIB and I wouldn't have the trouble to strip or repair the miniatures, I paid above my aimed price of 6-7 EUR.
That shrunk my open gaps down to this:
Yes, the firestarter preacher is the only thing missing from this project to cover all the sculpts from the range.
The "completion" of this project stock has cost me 150 EUR so far, along with a bit of trade ins. I managed to sell of some of the overstock (duplicate poses and newer sculpts) for about 90 EUR. Not bad for the initial start just 2 months ago. It surely helped that I already got the named characters and especially the Frateris Militia. I hope to squeeze in a test miniature of this army within the holidays. Due to its size, I think this might be a good project to start the middlehammer / 2nd edition series on here. I will have the chance to get more familiar with the Rhino kit, which will be helpful along the road when I go on for the Imperial Fists.
Along with the test miniature I have to choose an order and paint theme for the Sisters, so that will probably be the next step, maybe even still in 2020.
