Dead Man’s Hand – Mounted US Cavalry
The second part of the US Cavalry range for Dead Man’s Hand by Great Escape Games is a box of mounted soldiers: the Mounted U.S. Cavalry. It continues the line of cowboys (and cowgirls) on horseback and makes perfect sense for the US Cavalry. The mounted US Cavalry was crowdfunded through Kickstarter in March 2026 and delivered in April and May this year.
If you missed it, we already covered the US Cavalry on foot earlier on the blog.
The Mounted US Cavalry (DMHP007) boxed set contains 10 multi-part plastic miniatures for an RRP of 28 GBP. Just like the infantry set, it gives you the parts you need to build US Cavalry on horseback, as well as options for the 9th and 10th Buffalo Soldiers. We received a sample covering half a box, with three different sprues.
Dead Man’s Hand – US Cavalry on Foot
Great Escape Games added the US Cavalry to their range of plastic sets for Dead Man's Hand. These were financed through a Kickstarter campaign in November of last year. If you missed them as part of the Kickstarter campaign, don't worry: you can pick them up now from their online store or through various retailers all over the world.
The DMHP006 boxed set "US Cavalry" contains 10 multi-part plastic miniatures for an RRP of 18 GBP, and gives you the opportunity to build US Cavalry on foot, as well as units from the 9th and 10th Buffalo Soldiers. We received a sample sprue each from both kits — the foot and mounted versions — in Q1 of 2026, and we are catching up with them now in separate reviews.
Age of Sigmar Spearhead – City of Ash
Games Workshop sent us the City of Ash boxed set, the latest entry in their Spearhead format for Age of Sigmar. It is the first Spearhead set we review on this blog, and we will do an unboxing review for City of Ash in a similar way to how we covered the Kill Team sets. But just to point out: Spearhead is not comparable to Kill Team (of which the Fantasy counterpart is Warcry), but rather to 40k’s Combat Patrol game mode.
City of Ash is a themed boxed set for the Spearhead game mode: a self-contained two-player set designed for fast, focused games. There is also a regular variant, based on the last Age of Sigmar starter set containing Stormcast Eternals and Skaven.
What is it about?
The name says it all: Embergard, the City of Ash. A dead city fought over for its reserves of emberstone, a magical resource with military significance in the ongoing wars of the Mortal Realms. Two Spearhead-warbands clash in its ruins: the Freeguild soldiers of the Cities of Sigmar under the command of Jorvan Kreel, and the Clans Eshin Skaven, rat-folk assassins led by the notorious Deathmaster Crixxit.
Star Wars Legion – Rebel Alliance Starter Set
The second Starter Sets for Star Wars Legion Asmodee sent us is for the Rebel Alliance. We will be unboxing the set itself and provide in-depths reviews of the individual kits (those are linked below within the article).
The SWQ01 Rebel Alliance Starter Set has a RRP of 99,99 USD and contains 36 miniatures, providing you with a 600 points Recon-Level Army. The printed content of each Starter Set is multilingual and covers English, German, French and Spanish.
These new starter sets contain the new hard plastic miniatures, as well as everything else you need to start playing Star Wars Legion: tokens, cards, dice and rulers. The only thing not included is the rulebook, which is available as a free digital download.
Star Wars Legion – Kashyyyk Wookiee Warriors
One of the kits included in the Rebel Alliance Starter Set was produced from hard plastic long before the new edition of Star Wars Legion was released. Now, we have the chance to review it and provide you with an overview of the SWQ18 Kashyyyk Wookiee Warriors (repacked from SWL83 with multilingual content).
This set of six Wookiees allows you to play different units and even armies. Due to the variety of options on the sprue, they can be used to represent either Rebel Alliance freedom fighters or Kashyyyk resistance fighters for the Galactic Republic, and you can also build a Wookiee chieftain. All of this is available at an RRP of 49.99 USD!
Star Wars Legion – Rebel Commandos
The second Rebel core unit in Star Wars Legion is the Rebel Commando, which, like the Rebel Trooper, has been upgraded to hard plastic. The SWQ16 Rebel Commandos come in a box of seven miniatures and are available as an individual kit or as part of the Rebel Alliance Starter Set.
The SWL21 Rebel Commandos have been replaced by the new SWQ16 set, with the fixed poses of the resin plastic replaced by a partially modular, multipart hard plastic kit. The unit size remains at seven miniatures and is available at an RRP of 52.99 USD. Upgrades include a proton charge and a sniper rifle.
Star Wars Legion – Rebel Troopers
In the new Star Wars Legion Rebel Alliance Starter Set, the Rebel Troopers and Rebel Commanders have been upgraded. In this review, we will take a closer look at the new SWQ15 Rebel Troopers multipart hard plastic kit, which is included twice in the new starter set.
Like many other new kits in this range, this one replaces an earlier version. The SWL05 Rebel Troopers are succeeded by the SWQ15 Rebel Troopers, with an RRP of 54.99 USD. The number of models in this kit has increased from seven to eleven, and the miniatures have been switched from restic (a type of spin-cast plastic) to injection-moulded hard plastic.
Star Wars Legion – Luke Skywalker
The Rebel Alliance Starter Set for Star Wars Legion is led by a Hero of the Rebellion, Luke Skywalker himself. This miniature is included in the starter set and is also available as part of the updated SWQ14 Heroes of the Rebellion Character Pack, which features Han Solo, Chewbacca, Leia and an additional pose of Luke Skywalker.
As with many of the heroes in Star Wars: Legion, there were multiple poses of Luke throughout the production run.
- Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight Alt-Pose in SWQ14 Heroes of the Rebellion)
- SWL56 Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight)
- Luke Skywalker Limited Edition (Snowspeeder Pilot)
- Luke Skywalker from the SWL01 Core Set (Hero of the Rebellion)
This pose shows him wearing the yellow ceremorial jacket from the end of A New Hope.
Star Wars Legion – Galactic Empire Starter Set
Asmodee sent us two of the new Starter Sets for Star Wars Legion, one for the Galactic Empire and one for the Rebel Alliance. We will be unboxing of both and provide in-depths reviews of the individual kits.
These boxes contain the new hard plastic miniatures, as well as everything else you need to start playing Star Wars Legion: tokens, cards, dice and rulers. The only thing not included is the rulebook, which is available as a free digital download.
The SWQ02 Galactic Empire Starter Set has a RRP of 99,99 USD and contains 37 miniatures, providing you with a 600 points Recon-Level Army. The printed content of each Starter Set is multilingual and covers English, German, French and Spanish.
Star Wars Legion – Galactic Empire Scout Troopers
The Scout Troopers, along with the Stormtroopers, have been updated with hard plastic miniatures, which are available through the new SWQ12 Scout Trooper kit or the Galactic Empire Starter Set.
This set replaces the old SWL19 Scout Troopers kit, which also contained seven miniatures. The old kit was made from a plastic similar to 'restic', whereas the new kit is made from hard plastic in an injection mould on sprues. The new SWQ12 Scout Troopers have an RRP of USD 52.99 and still offer poses/options for the proton charge and a sniper rifle.
