Mortal Gods: Zombie Reinforcements
Hard to believe, but the reinforcements for my Army of Hades are ready. The army shown here is the standard game size of 300 points and in given time we will also talk a bit about the composition of the army, since I will, of course, eventually bring the army to 500 points.
For now, however, 300 points are enough, since I also want to paint my mortal army. When I add mythical troops to it, both factions will grow to the size intended for Mythic.
This block was primarily about getting the squad I had for the summer project up to strength. Chaosbunkerdaddy Gregor had kindly given me a few remaining Mantic Zombies, which I partially transformed into suitable looking corpses with parts from Victrix and Corinthian heads from Footsore.
The first block consisted of spearmen, as I thought at the time that would give them the most recognizable grecian look. With a little more muse, I probably would have converted one or the other with a linothorax, but in the first pass they already looked good enough and so I saved myself the trouble.
Possibly I' ll do that when I increase the army...should I then use zombies or skeletons again. The second block was of course a little cheating. I had leftover Games Workshop skeletons lying around and wanted to see how they would fit in visually. Unfortunately, the extremities seemed way too big, but I could use the torsos and so I assembled a complete group that rose from the ground.
The model with the crossed spears and shields was already finished and I only had to paint two half models to fill up the set. The second group of zombies I called "the blades" for simplicity's sake, since they didn't have the spear typical for hoplites. Admittedly, I like the Victrix models, but it was the conversion on the zombies that showed me that for skirmishers we actually need less rank and file stances, but ones with a bit more lively poses (pardon the pun...).
Since bunker boss Dennis is just quite generously carrying out an inventory in the Chaosbunker due to him moving, certainly one or the other undead will reach my ranks, which is why probably another squad of zombies will follow. However, a few zealots also would look nice...I'll just let myself be surprised, with what the Styx will wash up on its shores.
Greetings from the Chaosbunker
Dino
