Captured equipment for the desert

A long time ago, I stumbled upon this conversion of a Chevrolet 15 CWT on Panzerserra (on of my favourite model builders) and ever since I build the British 15 CWT, I was thinking about building it myself.

I was unsure if to go for a vehicle in Commonwealth service with a captured gun, or the other way around, with a captured vehicle in German service. After looking for an appropriate breda gun to use with the plastic vehicle. To match the remaining project, the Perry Miniatures Italian 20mm Breda was a good choice. Yet, I have build some of the weapon teams from the world war 2 range and after giving the breda a second look, I decided against it.

So along with the other British vehicles I got for the North African motorpool, I got myself another kit of the British 15 CWT along with a 2cm Flak (not to be confused with the Flakvierling)

I was unsure if i would go with a complete cut drivers cabin or leave the front window frame standing (or maybe tilt it forward). But as this would see service in the desert, I thought that a front window would be benefical.

So I used a hobby saw (I have one by Army Painter, which works fine and is pretty cheap), to cut down the upper frame. And the top part of the side board of the truck bed.

I clipped down the holders for the spare tire, as you can free up some room for stowage or gear. But that's optional.

At this step, I started building the flak gun. It comes with crew and a trailer.

First was to check, if the mount would fit the flat bed and it fit pretty well, without any modifications. A brief stand-in with the assembled gun as well, just to see if we would get some collisions

We're pretty far at this point, almost near completion. And as I have access to the SdKfz 10, which comes practically with some mounted ammunition boxes for the 2cm flak, I decided to use these on the sides, as they would fit the role of a captured vehicle in German service.

I added further stowage, for example the ramps and put them in gap, where the spare tire used to sit, along with some smaller gubins, like a can and some spare ammo containers. As the flak kit comes with an optional trailer, I decided to build that one as well, as it can be town by the cwt and makes for a neat little scene on the gaming table.

I would like to add a crew to this, so I took another look on the perry range, and ordered some. Will give an update, once these arrive.
