Adeptus Titanicus – Battle for Uulda IV – Part 1
After last years gaming weekend, and my first time playing Adeptus Titanicus, the Battle for Uulda continued. For this we met pretty central in Germany and travelled from the North, the South and the West to get together to roll some dice and decide the fate of the Uulda subsector. Initially we were 8 players in total, with not only the stress of finishing the miniatures in time but as most of us are wargaming daddies, stay healthy long / get well soon enough for the weekend, with Hauke unfortunately having to cancel last minute and me held together by some meds.We had three different tables available, Uulda Prime, Uulda Minoris and the ash desert of the orbital moon, all equipped with fitting terrain.
While the others bridged the time until everybody was there with Heroquest, quickly after I arrived on Friday late afternoon we picked up Titanicus, to refresh our knowledge of the rules (as for some of us, the last Battle for Uulda was the last time, we actually played Adeptus Titanicus). In case you want to freshen or get completely into the game, these videos by Tabletop Standard are very helpful.
My first game of the evening and weekend would be with Patrick / AuxiliaryMirelurk against his Legio Charybdis, a possessed traitor legio who worships Khorne, that would try to recover an item, that fell from the sky onto the surface of Uulda Minoris, and my objective would be to push back the traitors and buy the loyalist force enough time to inspect it.
This was the first time for me to field any Knights. I didn't read the rules beforehand, just looked at the points to have something cheap(-ish) for a 1.250 points list, as an auxiliary unit to my Fortis Maniple with Legio Astraman. And oh boy were the possessed reavers quick, especially with the Corsair maniple. Just what they needed to retrieve the unknown object.
And while I managed to face the reavers and put some damage into the followers of the arch traitor, they reached the object and were to claim it. Just as they were half-way back, I manage to take out the reaver in way, that it couldn't move anymore, but wasn't destroyed, so the objective couldn't be claimed by any of the other traitor units. Therefore giving me a close victory, by technical knockout.
I have to thank Patrick for his patience, as it took a bit of time to get back into the rules, along with me being a bit under the weather, which didn't help either.
On the other tables, in this case the orbital moon of Uulda Prime, Legio Suturvora (under Princeps Dennes / The Prophet of Fire) fought against Legio Atarus (under the command of Princeps Chris / LordLeonatos), where the winning side were the loyalists with a very small advantage of just one victory point.
And all that, while Herr.Poom's Legio Audax fought Hive_Citizen's Legio Astorum fought in the industrial districts of the orbital. This was an interesting game, far from a mirror match, as two Warlords would fight the pack of Warhounds, with the more agile Ember Wolves claiming the victory for the Warmaster.
After playing the games, getting back into the saddle of the rules and afterwards talking about the progress of the various projects, conversion ideas and upcoming releases, we called it a day as it was already saturday at that point. Rise and shine tomorrow morning and fight over Uulda for the Emperor or the Warmaster, depending on your loyalty.
