More Mars Attacks and Spaniards
Mid of the january we continued our painting projects. Flo on his - now enlarged - Mars Attacks collection, and i continued on the spaniards. I've added a few pilgrims as another 1 point selection to my crusaders. Those are perry miniatures codes CU26 and CU27.
Armoured Trains
Back home after a week in Birmingham, at the NEC exhibition centre, where they hold among others the UK Games Day, Comic Conventions and UK Games Expo. Using the weekend to write some feedback about the visited sites and places, and to catch up on this blog. Why do i share my experience on tripadvisor? I found some good places and great recommendations thanks to the community, and it is the right thing to give something back. That is actually something i'd be glad to see more actively in the wargaming scene as well. There are so many great blogs and project logs out there, and even more readers. Give those guys some feedback, comment on their projects and give something back.
A package arrived while i was away. I stocked up on Fleischmann Magic Train waggons, got two fuel tanks and three freight cars. Stripped the later of their constructions, preparing them for being converted into an armoured train.
Fuel Depot, Skeletons and Snowspeeders
I found this one back at Spiel last year at Micro Art Studios booth. Saw it and thought, that is a must have for a gaming table, and at 16-18 Euro it is reasonably priced.
Painting get together
A good friend of mine got himself a great deal on Mantics Mars Attacks at a local gaming store. He's a board gamer and found himself now in possession of miniatures, and asked me if i could help him getting started. So what's better than have a painting get together?
Said and done, spread out a piece of cloth and open up some drinks. Ready to go.
Rubicon PzKpfw III Ausf. J/M/N
Rubicon is a new manufacturer from Hong Kong with 1:56 scaleplastic kits. And that is reason enough for a small tank week, that will cover reviews of several tanks, beginning with the Panzerkampfwagen III Ausführung J / M / N.
The kit is delivered in a transparent bag, covers three sprues, an instruction and a decal sheet. It is the Panzer III, of which as a medium battle tank around 5.700 units were built between 1936 and 1943. The chassis was built until the end of the war, as a base for tanks like the StuG III, that was manufactured more than twice the amount than the Panzer itself.
Holiday business
After this "marathon" of posts during December, i use the holidays to spend some time regenerating and relaxing.
Since mid-december i enjoy a couple of tv shows on Netflix while tinkering, i can only recommend Ray Donovan and The Americans. What else is on between christmas and new year? I am working on some of the articles i announced in the christmas post, taking care of terrain and the following.
The first is a Reaper Master Series 54mm miniature of an US Army serviceman. Solid cast, details are good, could be better but it is okay.
X-Mas Presents a.k.a. 2016 teaser
Wow, what a month! 24 days in a row, lots different content and articles. Hope you enjoyed it as much, as i did writing it.
But i am not quite finished yet, there is more to come next year, after i had a short break. So as a special christmas present, i want to let you in on what's under the tree.
I have a few board games in the queue, among others there is Arcadia Quest, Dead of Winter and Rise of the Kage.
German Wars – Part IV
After traveling through the ages from 1525 to the present, in the last 3 parts, in part IV i jump back in time. As promissed i try to cover the conflicts of and in the early holy roman empire.
Pinterest: Lead Plague, Back of Beyond and Panzerserra
Last few days until christmas, and i want to show some really special blogs from my pinterest board. I hope you guys liked the advent calender so far, and a ready to spend some time with your family and friends, have a rest, and maybe enjoy a game and a cold pint.
First pick is from France, Lead Plague. A pretty cool old school project log, about Rogue Trader and Oldhammer. Some original vintage miniatures, along with conversions of newer ones to fit in with the old vibe. Enjoy the nostalgy.
sprues, tanks and handworker stores
Some items, some very useful items, you find in the handworker stores. While catching some items for work, i grabbed a few sheets of abrasive paper and some clamps. You get such things specificaly for model building, but the diy-store usually have the more reasonable prices.
