Black Seas – Frigates and Brigs Flotilla

After expanding Bolt Action into the naval combat with Cruel Seas, Black Powder benefits from a similar treatment and is expanded into the Age of Sails with the new Black Seas ruleset. Warlord Games introduced three new plastic sprues with ships in 1/700th scale of which we're going to cover the Frigates and Brigs today.

These sprues are part of the Master & Commander starter set as well, but are available as a Flotilla for 20 GBP and cover two Frigates and four Brigs.

Warhammer Underworlds: Beastgrave – The Grymwatch

The first of the warband supplements for Beastgrave, the third season of Warhammer Underworlds is a Flesh-Eater Court warband, the Grymwatch.

Warhammer Underworlds: Beastgrave - The Grymwatch Warhammer Underworlds: Beastgrave - The Grymwatch

The Grymwatch is an undead warband supplement for Warhammer Underworlds and costs 25.00 EUR. So these got a small price increase from the former 22.50 RRP price tag. There are 6 ghouls and a bat swarm in this warband, spread across two grey-green sprues, along with a card deck and assembly instructions. The former warbands were available as easy-to-build kits without the Underworlds content, the Grymwatch isn't offered in that way (yet).

Warhammer Underworlds: Beastgrave Primal Lair

In Nightvault Games Workshop introduced for the first time terrain accessories with the Arcane Hazards for the Underworlds series, and in Beastgrave we see that idea continued with the Primal Lair.

The Primal Lair is a set of six terrain pieces, to cover hexes on your Underworlds gameboard or to use on a regular tabletop wargame battlefield. It is kept in the design of stalagmites in hex-shape, along with bones and multiple things we've seen in the caverns.

After the initial Shadespire and second edition Nightvault, the conflict moves into the bestial realm of Ghur, and gets lost in the Beastgrave. A huge mountain, laced with caverns and tunnels, which are filled with treasure and secrets, luring the warbands into its depth. As usual for the starter set it contains two warbands, the current rules, dice, cards and two hex field boards. The new Beastgrave boxed set got a new price tag and costs 60 EUR instead of the 50 EUR the other two sets cost.

Cruel Seas M-Class Minesweeper

After the decision fell towards the Flower Class Corvette as the large ship of the Royal Navy fleet, I was looking for a fitting counterpart for the German Kriegsmarine. My choice went towards the German M-Class Minesweeper.

Crues Seas - M-Class Minesweeper

The Minesweeper was in competition with the Marinefährprahm (basically a landing ship) and the Vorpostenboot. The landing ship would be something to keep in mind, if I wanted to extend the Operation Sealion / Gigant towards Cruel Seas. The Vorpostenboot is an armed civil ship, similar to the armed trawler of the British and looked a bit to improvised to counter the proud British Corvette. So the decision was clear, it must be the Minesweeper, Minensuchboot M1940.

Cruel Seas British Flower Class Corvette

In extension to the fleets of the Strike Fast! Strike Hard! starter kit I chose a large vessel for both sides. For the British that was the British Flower Class Corvette.

Among the large British ships would have been a Landing Craft Gun or the armed trawler. The landing craft looked more like something for the pacific and the armed trawler was a bit too close to the merchant tanker, and this is a Corvette, a Corvette! So the choice was pretty clear.

Aeronautica Imperialis – Imperial and Ork Ground Assets

The release of Aeronautica Imperialis was much broader, compared to other product lines introduced by Games Workshop. Among the individual kits is one for terrain, the Imperial and Ork Ground Assets.

The flat box costs 32,50 EUR and covers a single large plastic sprue, along with a simple assembly instruction. Unlike other terrain sets, this doesn't come with a Warscroll for use. Those are covered in the Rynn's campaign supplement.

Cruel Seas Merchant Tanker

The Merchant Tanker is one of the firsts vessels that were available for Cruel Seas and has a cardboard stand in included with the Strike Fast! Strike Hard! starter kit.

As a "neutral" ship that could be found in service of every nation this kit bears the potential to be part of most scenarios, either as a mission objective to defend / attack or for example to claim its cargo. Merchant tankers had the objective to ferry supplies such as food, fuel, steel, clothing or munitions and weaponry.

Aeronautica Imperialis – Marauder Destroyers

Among the fine new kits available for Aeronautica Imperialis is a second variant of the Marauder, that isn't part of the Wings of Vengeance starter kit. Reason enough to take a look on the Marauder Destroyers boxed set.

Aeronautica Imperialis - Marauder Destroyer Aeronautica Imperialis - Marauder Destroyer

The Marauder is the standard heavy bomber of the Imperial Navy and due to its heavy armoured superstructure a reliable work horse of the imperial forces. As such it is mainly used as the Marauder Bomber, with a payload of to 6,000 pounds of explosives. It can carry up to twelve bombs or six heavy bombs, while four slots are available beneath each of the wings for additional bombs. There are variants of the Marauder, which put the capacity for bombs to use with different gear and refit the remaining armament, depending on its purpose. The most known variant beside the Marauder Bomber is the Marauder Destroyer, a dedicated ground-attack aircraft, which saw action first in the Second war for Armageddon. The bomb bay was halfed, using the space for ammunition for the new armament in nose and rear.

Warcry Ravaged Lands – Shattered Stormvault

With Warcry filling in the fantasy counter-part of Kill Team, Games Workshop supplies the game with their variant of the Killzones called Ravaged Lands. We have covered a couple of those Killzones already on the blog, for example Killzone: Sector Mechanicus and Killzone: Sector Fronteris. And today we cover the first of the Ravaged Lands, the Shattered Stormvault.
