Crisis 2017 Haul
Of course, no event coverage is really completed without the haul, the loot, the goodies that you've brought home. So let's see what I got myself this time.
Crisis 2017 – Part II
Another view towards the gates of Crisis, roughly 2 hours after opening hours, the crowd was still coming. The first to come through the doors, were standing in line since 08:40 a.m.!
Crisis 2017 – Part I
Saturday morning, short of 10 a.m., once again we are in front of the halls of the Waagnatie Expo. Decorated with the eight large banners, that can be seen from afar. It is time for Crisis 2017.
Intro to Crisis 2017 Antwerp
It is this time of the year, early November and the TinSoldiers of Antwerp host their annual show, the Crisis. For me, preparation started in summer just when I got back from New Zealand, getting the team ready and booking hotel rooms.
Crisis 2017 Prelude
Only a month until Crisis 2017! On November 4th the hangars Antwerps harbour area will open their doors for Europe's biggest wargaming event on the mainland.
Wellington Great War Exhibition Part 1
One of the stops that I was most eager to visit, was the Great War Exhibition in Wellington. It marked more or less the last stop on our trip around the north island, before we went for further two and half weeks on the south island. But let me tell you why I was so excited to go there. The GWE is home to an large diorama that was created in cooperation with Perry Miniatures and the New Zealand wargaming scene. And were not talking about some 4 by 8 ft table, but something far bigger.
Wellington Great War Exhibition Part 2
The Great Hall of the GWE ends in a hallway, leading on one way towards the cafe and shop, and on the other end towards the ANZ room.
After the hard focus on the western front, the hallway moves over to the New Zealand part of the ANZAC. Explaining which parts of the country raised what regiments, numbers and where they were shipped to. Colourised images of the mustering troops, the gear and so on.
Wellington Te Papa – Gallipoli The Scale of our War
Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, is home to many cultural sites, among them Te Papa Tongarewa, the National Museum of New Zealand. The name means "the place of treasures of this land" and covers many different exhibitions, about the history, the animals and plants of this country, as well as a current exhibition about Gallipoli, that was done in cooperation with Weta Workshop. The exhibition is not the be confused with the Great War Exhibition in the anzac park, that will be covered soon here as well.
The Papa is a large building in the harbour area of Wellington and covers several free exhibitions. This exhibition will be shown between April 2015 until April 2019.
A Tour of Hobbiton – Movie Set Tour 2017
This article is for the terrain builders and Lord of the Ring enthusiasts. First proper one about the trip to New Zealand, so enjoy!
After we arrived in Auckland, our first stop along our route through the Northern Island of New Zealand was near Matamata, in Hobbiton. While driving through Waikato we already got the "shire vibe" and half an hour before arriving there, you already knew - this must be the place. It was cloudy at first, but it brightened up during the day.
Salute 2017 haul
On April 22nd, was the Salute 2017 held by the South London Warlords. Salute is the biggest independent one-day wargaming and gaming event in the UK and likely in Europe. I visited the show last year in 2016, had a great time, as you can see here in the Parts I - IV of my coverage (Part I, Part II, Part III and Part IV).
This year, due to time issues, I couldn't be there myself, but a good friend of mine, living in Cambridge, was kind enough to bring along a few items for myself and even kinder to drop by the next day (24h express wargaming goodies delivery... so great 😀 ).
