Annual review of 2018, preview of 2019
Yet another year on the chaosbunker and with 2019, we're heading towards the 10th year of this blog and my 23rd year in the hobby. Chaosbunker continued with the bilingual content, offering the articles in both English and German. And similar to last year, this year was quite busy, again, both in wargaming and private life.
Looking forward to the Holidays
Christmas is near, the holidays have begun and I will spend my two weeks off with the family as well as with the hobby.
I got a little christmas present from Radaddel. Thank you very much, always a satisfied customer and with this little bonus towards the end of the year more than ever. Some sweets, a small jar of model snow and a Citadel Painting Handle. Those are very useful and it is always practical to have one more to spare.
Blackstone, 3D-Prints and Birthdays
Let me sum up this week. I'm currently preparing the review on Warhammer Quest Blackstone Fortress. If you pre-order it, many stores will give you posters and a poker chip as a bonus. And I already gathered a couple of miniatures for the scale comparison shots. In case you have any wishes, what I should cover within the review, just let me know and I'll try to put it into the upcoming article.
Modern Combat Black Dog 1:48 Upgrades
From Czechia with ... some kind of love. To pimp the Tamiya Humvees that I bought last month, I got myself two boxes of Black Dog conversion kits. The Iraq War Accessoires Set (T48034) and IDF Uparmoured Humvee (T48058).
I visited the black dog page a couple of times in the past, as they have some very extensive conversions and upgrade kits for world war 2 vehicles in 1:35 and 1:48. And I like to take those as ideas or inspiration to upgrade my Bolt Action (28mm / 1:56) kits. And to be honest, that was the main reason, why I spend that much money on these kits. Kinda like paying for the inspiration, as the upgrade sets are rather boldly priced with 14,50 EUR and 27 EUR for the two kits and that's without shipping.
Last Weekend Loot for O(r)ctober
It was a buzy weekend for the postman. During the week and on saturday a couple of smaller packages arrived, but I just had the time today to actually take a closer look on them. Was a bit buzy myself with the last touches on the Speed Freeks review and Saturdays visit to Spiel in Essen.
Dead Man’s Hand: Outlaws – Part 7
With Frank McMiller, the trio of McMiller's sons is complete. All in all, I used the same color scheme as on Eugene or Seamus to establish a visual connection.
Spiel 2018 Preview
This Thursday, the October 25th, Spiel starts again. It is the largest board game con in Europe. You can download the Spiel Guide for the show here for free.
It's been 3 years since the last time I've been there, and I've covered it on here, Spiel 2015 Part I, Part II and Part III.
Dead Man’s Hand: Banditos – Part 1
Even though one of McMillers gang members still haven't been introduced, it's time to turn the attention to the antagonists. Finn will take over at this point and introduce his Banditos by himself and continue our common storyline in Dead Man' Hand.
After I had a long hobby break, Dino spured my interest again. I liked the idea to start a Skirmisher as a joint project and so I began to gather a posse in the Wild West. The models are all from Great Escape Games. So far I had painted only Space Marines and admittedly not very well. I chose to get back into painting by consuming numerous tutorials. For the color concept I wanted to keep the posse quite colorful, they should look like a mixed up bunch, which only had their Mexican roots in common. At the same time, they had a lot in common through the many typical Western leather applications.
Modern Combat Tamiya 1:48 Humvee
After watching Sicario 2 - Day of the Soldado and enjoying that amazing Behind the Border scene with the HUMVEEs and mexican police, modern combat came strongly back to my head.
All pictures shown above were taken from promotional material and are copyright 2018 of Sony Pictures / Lionsgate / StudioCanal.
Dead Man’s Hand: Outlaws – Part 6
Another Wild West Wednesday casts its shadow and with the redskin shown here, only one member remains in Killer McMiller's gang of outlaws.
I've painted a Northern Union uniform for the first timewith this model, and the overall look of the model already urged to use this color combination. The pants were an experiment in this respect and I used Sombre Grey from Vallejo Game Color as the base color.
