American Civil War on an epic scale
I am preparing a bit of American Civil War for Q2 / 2021. I don't stray often from 28mm, but there is such a broad variety of scales in wargaming (just to give you some examples from 6mm Epic sci-fi, to 10-12mm Warmaster fantasy, 15mm ACW, 28mm Napoleonics and 40mm Perry Border Reavers) that I needed to take a closer look, when something is released in plastic.
Micro Art Studios Foam Hills
The polish manufacturer Micro Art Studio offers a broad range of terrain, made from resin, mdf and foam. They even carry licensed products for systems like Wolsung or Infinity. In this review I'd like to cover generic wargaming items in form of hills, made from foam.
The pictures above are from the MAS online shop and show the large hill and a set of four flat hills. They come unpainted and are 19,68 EUR (the large hill) and 34,44 EUR (flat hills). They are slightly primed in black.
GaleForce9 – Battlefield in a Box
Gale Force 9 offers beside a few board games and hobby accessoires a terrain range of their own, named Battlefield in a Box. These come in several different settings, like Fantasy, Generic or specific for Flames of War in 15mm. But are you limited to use those in 15mm? Not really, and I'm going to prove my point.
Main problem about these sets is the availability. In Germany / Europe they can be fierce to get your hands on, but some time ago - while they were in stock - I got my hands a few sets from the BiaB Flames of War Range.
Let us begin with the rural roads. The set sets you back 45 USD and covers 4 straights and 2 curves, along with a small bag of static grass.
Tank month
It took a few weeks but my order at Ainsty Castings arrived. I bought a couple of items, some monuments that will be perfect for almost every setting. A raft, that will a nice addendum for the German Marines i painted earlier, and for some Spec-Op Missions (Commandos etc.). The riverboat was a bargain, and is a nice piece of terrain and will be used for boarding and river settings. And the last part ... a tardis. Eventhough i am not a Dr. Who Fan (i think its just weird), but hey a tardis, ... why not?
Looking for 15mm Sci-Fi Tanks
As i want to try out 15mm Sci-Fi, I am looking for fitting miniatures. As I am more or less settled on the ARC Troopers as Infantry from Critical Mass Games.
The range to choose from isn't that large and i was thinking about using these Cruisers from Firestorm Armada as Medium or Light Tanks.
