Dino’s September 2022
Woooow, it seems like only a blink of an eye ago that I wrote the article for August, and now the first week of October is also over before I could write just the first letter for my September summary!!!! I've mentioned it before, my new job is stretching me pretty thin, and I have to say, I'm really enjoying it - a feeling I didn't have with my last three employers.
But as the saying goes, "Good things take their time" and also in the hobby I always move according to this motto. So in the past month I have actually not been able to finish painting a single model, except for this terrain piece from Sarissa that I have decorated with a model from Footsore Miniatures as a statue.
The statue was actually a "leftover" because the casting wasn't good, and Footsore's customer service promptly sent me a new mini that was flawless. However, I thought to myself, "the design of the mini is so beautiful in itself, it would be a shame to just dump it - is there anything else I can do with it?". Since I've always liked Sarissa's fountains, but found from first sight that only a statue really gives the fountain the necessary pep, the solution for the mini's continued life was obvious. As it turned a good decision in hindsight.
At this point, I want to take a stand for both companies. The customer service of both is truly exemplary, and I have never had any problems with either Sarissa or Footsore. For example, when I bought my Mortal Gods starter box, I had a broken saber in two frames that I would have liked to use. I simply wrote to Footsore and instead of just getting the part replaced twice, I received two whole frames from Victrix. Sarissa, on the other hand, shines above all with very low delivery costs from the UK, as well as being responsive to customer requests for base shapes. Both very pleasing in times of a service desert.
Budget Challenge
Unfortunately, the German customs office does not really understand the service needs of hobbyists and so I got over budget this month after I got review material from Footsore. Since the value of the goods has exceeded the 150, - € limit, the shipment was unfortunately no longer duty free (everything under 150, - € is duty free and costs "only" import VAT) and I have spent 66.11 € to pick up the goods.
My budget in September:
Balance previous month: 45,26 €
September 2022 budget: 65,26 €
September 2022 spending: 66,11
September 2022 rest: - 0,85 €
Expenses for work materials:
September: 0 €
Balance until September 2022: 84,84 €
As you can see, it's going to be quite mythical in the near future due to the review material, but I'm also having a blast with Mortal Gods right now. I would love to double up so I can tackle Mortal Gods and Oathmark at the same time. But since I have a clear goal this year, I'm going to finish it first before I tackle my Goblins and Undead.
But the biggest hurdle for the hobby at the moment is, of course, my personal standards - no, not in the hobby, I'm happy there. But I want to be good at my job. After all, we don't want to report another job change on the bunker in a few months again!
Greetings from the Chaosbunker
