Realm of Chaos – Hooves and Fur Part XII

The wash has dried on the base colours and I had this to work on. Once again I am quite surprised by the decent result you get by a simple wash.

Anyhow, that isn't my personal claim, so I added further highlights, pretty much the same way I did with the Gors in the other two batches (Part V and Part VIII). Have to say, I am not that happy about the sculpts, compared to the older models the miniatures would have benefited from being two parts or more open posed. For example the hunched bestigor is missing details on the left side of his face and I'll have to freehand a bit on there. Beyond that, the black lining using Dark Tone has helped me a lot. And the close up pictures help me to see better the details that need some further attention, like the clean-up on the belts and studs.

A miniature Odyssey – The Gates of Hades…

…have opened and the last block for the Summer Project 2020 is finished. Since I already had some practice with the skeletons from Warlord Games, it didn't take long to paint the last six of them.

A miniature Odyssey – With Spear and Shield

When you think of ancient Greece, you simply cannot help but think of a Hoplite armed with a shield and spear. Logically many Hoplites died in the battles and so it is not surprising that I painted some skeletons with exactly this combination of weapons for the second block for the summer project.

Blood Bowl – Old World Alliance & Underworld Denizens Pitch

Since a few weeks the Blood Bowl setting has been expanded with a revised Underworld roster and a new Old World Alliance roster. As with almost every team release, special play cards, dice and a pitch come along too. In this review we take a closer look at the latter.

The product costs, depending on the retailer you order it from, about 30,- € and comes in a sturdy packaging. The contents are the typical cardboard for dugouts, the field itself, a foam inlay that prevents the longer dugout from snapping, and the packaging that can be used as a practical slipcase.

Looking back on July 2020

As announced in the last weekend update, on my prolonged wargamer's dad weekend, I switched from weekly to monthly sum ups and this being the first monthly review, starting in July.

Speaking of wargaming dad, 2 years ago I enjoyed my parental leave, and what can I say, the curly little big adventure that made me a wargaming dad has grown quite a bit, and enjoys visiting me at my desk.

Chaosbunker Daddies – Sport is a killer! Block 1

It took me exactly 29 days and therefore I am the slowest of the four Chaosbunker Daddies, but the first block is completed!

Realm of Chaos – Hooves and Fur Part XI

The third and final block of the summer project overs two Bestigors, a Minotaurus, the Beastmen Chieftain and two bonus Nurgle Ungors, that I already prepared in the last update of Hooves and Fur.

A miniature Odyssey – Block 1? Done!

A month has passed and I am really happy that I managed to finish the first block for the Summer Project before the time ran out. Skeletons are a bit unspectacular themselves, so there is not much to tell about them despite the successful completion of this stage.

Realm of Chaos – Hooves and Fur Part X

I have finished the first and second block of Hooves and Fur, and now going for the third and final batch of beastmen.

As the scope of the warband was defined and set to 16 miniatures, I need two more to tackle the summer project challenge of 18 miniatures in 3 months. So set this project into perspective, the beastmen are the undivided part of my greater Realm of Chaos project, which covers a mixed warband for each of the four chaos gods. Mixed meaning, not only covering chaos warriors, but all kinds of servants of the dark gods. Unfortunately there are only a few proper banner men for the mortal chaos, so I had to be creative about this.

And I thought, that two ungors would be a good fit for the Nurgle warband, as a banner bearer and musician. But I couldn't keep them like this. So after preparing the miniatures, taking care of the mould lines and putting them on a base, I went on to prepare a conversion.
