Annual Review of 2017, Preview of 2018
Wow, another year passed and what a year it was. Almost 60 updates on here, available in both English and German. A busy year for me and my family, both personal and hobby-wise. A lot of things happened. I got engaged early this year, went to New Zealand for a month in late summer and got married two month ago.
So what went on on here, at, on and in the Chaosbunker. It was again very focused on reviews and Bolt Action, and I'm looking forward to open up on that in the upcoming year.
Intro to Crisis 2017 Antwerp
It is this time of the year, early November and the TinSoldiers of Antwerp host their annual show, the Crisis. For me, preparation started in summer just when I got back from New Zealand, getting the team ready and booking hotel rooms.
Winter is coming
With the last two month of this year right around the corner, the planning for Winter is necessary. One of the next events on my schedule is the Crisis, as I already shared with you here - Crisis 2017 prelude.
Usually I prepare an advent calendar for December, but this year I'll schedule something different. I'd like to switch to some themed weeks, but still delivery some special topics on the advent sundays. So what do I have on my mind? Well, the review schedule has still a few things to cover. You are most likely well aware of the world war 2 heavy content, so expect a some vehicle kits in resin and plastic, and a few infantry sets among them as well.
The Great Wargaming Survey 2017
Wargames Soldiers & Strategy repeats their Great Wargaming Survey in 2017!
New Zealand / Aotearoa 2017
You might be wondering, why it was so quiet in July on Chaosbunker. The ones following me on facebook, might have seen it - I was in New Zealand / Aotearoa for a month.
AK Interactive Agitator Balls / Stainless Steel Shakers
As I am currently working on a few historical projects, and therefore using paints from brands like Vallejo and other companies that use drop bottles instead of pots, I ran out of agitator balls.
What are agitator balls? They are small metal balls that are put inside the drop bottles and help stir the paint. I used to use the ones from PK Pro, but got myself some from AK Interactive during my last shopping at Radaddel.
For 5 Euros, you receive 250 steel balls, which is a pretty good price (PK Pro charges 7,95 for 150 balls). They come in a small bottle with screw top as you can see.
Technical Updates
Beside the usual updates in WordPress and the used plug-ins on this blog, I moved the blog to a server with current PHP and MySQL versions. I want to thank my host All-Inkl for the superb service for nearly 10 years now. Fast responses, very supportive and fair prices. What could I want more?
Everything went fine so far and the specs could be increased (faster loading times - woohoo!). If you stumble over any errors, please let me know. Beyond that, have a nice remaining sunday.
11th Bitbox & “Kramkiste”
It is mid of March, so it is time for the spring Bitbox! A tabletop flea market in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The opening times were shortened from 11:00 to 14:00 and for the first time I had the sensation of queueing at this event.
Jumping from 2016 to 2017
Happy New Year!
After a relaxing last evening in 2016, let us welcome the new year! It was a cold, foggy sky last night, but the city was lit up by fireworks.
Enjoying the holidays
I hope everyone enjoyed the last few days, had the chance to slow down a little and maybe even had a bit of time to spare on the our beloved hobby. In my case - you remember the test miniatures from the 24th? - I did a bit of progress on the SAGA warbands last thursday.
