Birthday, Bitbox and Autumn Update
First of all, a big thank you to everyone who send congratulations to me last weekend. I got some nice presents, like the limited Steelsoul Keg Protector and a voucher for the local kart center. Woo-hoo! It has been almost a whole month since the last update, so let's see.
Wednesday Update #1
Answering the question, do the backdrops reflect? It depends. A quick snapshot what it's good for ...
Vacation Time
First day of vacation and the first signal of "hobby life". So what's on in the past time and what is coming for me and my dear readers? I'm going to show you some of my PIPs and WIPs, as well as preparing my trip at the end of the week. What trip? Well, i am off to the Lead Belt, Nottingham, at thursday and will stay there for the Warlord Games Day among other dates / events. I'll keep you posted on that 🙂
So, its monday morning 9 am, what is the status quo? I'd like to give you a short impression of the desk. I am currently painting my Khadorians.
Organizers organize
A classic problem to wargamers / miniature collectors is the waste of space. The shelves are usually much higher than they need to be be.
You can see it on the example of this shelf board filled with my bolt action miniatures.
DSLR Accessoires and other new things
It took a few days until the customs cleared the package. It was kinda tricky, as i didn't know the content. But it arrived and i was astonished. The guys from Dreamforge were really grateful for the support on their kickstarter and product line and send me one of each of their latest products. And the Crusader is huge! How huge? Well ...
Stripping Paint and new Arrivals
... And the Results are in! Well, two big jars filled with miniatures and mellerud and thats the finished product after some serious scrubbing. Some of the miniatures were probably painted 20 years ago with some crazy sticky primer. There are some nice old and rare miniatures among them, like the tyranid cultists and daemons.
Cars, cars, cars
Yesterday i was browsing Toys'r'us, with a 28mm and a 15mm miniature in my hand, looking for something fitting the scale. Every now and then they have some usable models for small money, that a great as a gaming figurine or terrain accessoire.
Unfortunately in 1:100, let's say 15mm, there was nothing for me. But they had some bargains on 1:43 die cast kits and FastLane (private brand of toys'r'us) covers several scales from 1:12 up to roughly 1:87, but also some in 1:43, but you need to see it for your self to be sure.
Well, what did i bought? The picture shows the loot! 😉
Weekend, weekend where have you been
Its been a busy weekend. Doing some chores in the flat and taking some time to clean up and organize the new home. And of course, spending some of that time in my beloved home office for miniature goodness.
But before we come to the serious stuff (as far as miniature wargaming can be serious), some childish things first. I stumbled upon some smaller LEGO Star Wars planet kits (they come with an planet, a minifig and a vehicle / space ship) in Belgium in a toy store and was struggling with my self to buy me an X-Wing. The price of 13 Euro kept me from buying one. But earlier this week I was shopping at LIDL and they had the same kits for a special price of 8 Euro. Well, long story short, here we go ... an AT-ST Walker incl. Pilot and Endor as well as the already mentioned X-Wing Starfighter incl. Pilot and Yavin 4.
Photokina & BitBox
Thanks to everyone for the Birthday wishes! Beside work and some really short weekends, what was going on on the hobby-side? Well, the weekend before this the photokina was in Cologne (a large photography fair).
As i am now "armed" with a nice starter DSLR, i was looking for some additional accessoires, which i found. How has this something to do with miniatures? Well, somehow we have to get some pictures online - that is for sure and some of this things will be usefull for others as well.
First there was B-Grip, an italian company, having a nice marketing special, where you could trade in your neckstrap agains on of their belt holder. As i was already looking for something to replace my rather cheap neckstrap (the one canon packs into the box with the 1100D is not even stitched, just printed), i took this deal with great joy! After all, this belt holder including the quick release plate is awesome for miniature shows and fairs. Hands free and still quick access to the cam and all i had to do was to trade in my neckstrap.
