Legions Imperialis – Legiones Astartes

After the unboxing of the core set we go into detail on the two factions of the first wave of Legions Imperialis. The Legiones Astartes and Solar Auxilia are part of the core set, and their infantry boxes are available right from the start with the initial wave, along with some heavier equipment for the motor pool.

This article covers the Legiones Astartes Infantry (incl. Contemptor Dreadnought) boxed set, and Predator and Sicaran tanks from the core set.

Legions Imperialis – The Solar Auxilia

The second force within the new Legions Imperialis core set is the Solar Auxilia. Similar to the Legiones Astartes, we have the Infantry set available as part of the first wave. The Baneblade / Hellhammer will be covered in an article of its own.

So today, we will look into the Solar Auxilia Infantry (incl. Charonite Ogryns and Aethon Heavy Sentinels), as well the Leman Russ and Malcador which are currently exclusive to the core set.

Horus Heresy – Legiones Astartes Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought

With the Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought, the third Dreadnought pattern after Leviathan and Contemptor made its transition from a resin kit towards plastic for the Horus Heresy range.

Horus Heresy - Legiones Astartes Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought

Beginning with the second edition of Warhammer 40k / post-Rogue Trader era, the classic pattern we know as a dreadnought is classified as Castraferrum Pattern Mark V Dreadnought, with the variants that were released by Forge World as Mark IV with slightly slender / less bulky proportions.

Horus Heresy – Legiones Astartes Battle Group

This new Legiones Astartes Battle Group brings not only the new Mk III power armoured Space Marines into battles of the Horus Heresy, but a new Dreadnought pattern, the Deredeo released as a plastic kit.

A bit smaller than the Age of Darkness boxed set, this Battle Group makes a great starting point for a Horus Heresy project, if the Beakies / Mk VI Marines weren't your cup of tea. And if you ask me, some Legions just have to wear Mark III armour, like the Death Guard or Imperial Fists.

Adeptus Titanicus – Adding a Legion to your Legio Pt. 2

While we wait for the pre-orders / release of Horus Heresy Legions Imperialis we continue to connect the new system with Adeptus Titanicus range. Which Space Marine Legion sided with which Titan Legio, and as we covered the Loyalist in our first article, earlier this week, it is now time to see who fought for and with the Warmaster.

Adeptus Titanicus – Battle for Uulda III Adeptus Titanicus – Battle for Uulda III Adeptus Titanicus - Battle for Uulda Legio Fureans

Similar to the legios like Astorum or Gryphonicus who fought with almost every loyalist Astartes Legion, there are legios like Mortis, Fureans or Krytos, who fought alongside most of the traitors during the Horus Heresy. Some even with loyalists prior to their secession.

Yet, other Legios have no official / canon connections towards other forces (beside maybe Knight Households), but this creates room for your own narratives, like in the case of Legio Damicium, Laniaskara or Vulturum.

Adeptus Titanicus – Adding a Legion to your Legio

With the excitement about the re-release of Epic as Horus Heresy Legions Imperialis, you might be wondering which Astartes Legion to choose. And while this can be an entirely new project and that is absolutely fine, you might want to use your collection of Adeptus Titanicus miniatures.

Which Legion would be a proper fit to your Legio? Let us try to answer these questions, based upon the available lore. And these are mere suggestions. The grim dark future is expands into a vast universe, so there is plenty of space for your own campaigns and combinations that aren't listed below, for multiple reasons (pre-heresy alliances, loyalists of traitor legions, Blackshields etc.). But as I am aware that a lot of the 30k community values the lore, I want to provide an overview for the Titan Legions of the Loyalist and Traitor book.
