Legions Imperialis – Point values of the 1st wave
As this question was asked more often, a quick overview, where you land with the items from the first wave.
A few things up front
- No, the starter set can not be combined into one large legal army as they Primary and Ally army split is 70/30 of points. There is a special formation for quick starter games, that is not meant for matched play.
- You can mix multiple Astartes Legions into one army, as they don't count into the allied contingent if your primary list is Astartes
- The 30% allied contingent count against anything that is not your primary army list. The Aeronautica units of your primary army are usually air support and don't count against the allied contingent.
Legions Imperialis – Vanguard Miniatures
Back in 2020 we did a review on the Vanguard Miniatures and their range of metal (!) miniatures for Epic. The range is called Defeat in Detail, is available in 3, 6 and 15mm and covers the Novan Commonwealth (Imperium), Cybershadow (Mechanicum) and even some Xenos races.
But as we now have access to the Legions Imperialis range, we want to compare the metal models with the plastic, beginning with their Novan Elites vs. the Legiones Astartes. Pretty close in size, would work at regular games distance.
Legions Imperialis – Building an Army
We have talked a lot about Legions Imperialis in the last days, did reviews, articles analyzing the new and old content, but now it is time to muster an army. Beginning with the Legiones Astartes.
How does this work in Legions Imperialis? This is a four step process for Army Selection and we're going to this as for my upcoming army project.
Legions Imperialis – Painting tiny marines
As we are going deep with the coverage and further projects using the new Epic scale Legions Imperialis miniatures, I grabbed a few miniatures from the Legiones Astartes Infantry set and prepared them to get them painted as that just looks nicer in the comparison pictures.
It will be two bases of Astartes, one with a few command miniatures in power armour and the second one with the Cataphracti terminators, and with this scope I thought, well that would be a great chance to paint something outside of my project idea. And what legion would be better than the Alpha Legion? Especially as the pictures from the Liber Hereticus really spoke to me. Beside that, it would be a great time to try out a translucent colour over metallics, using Contrast paints.
Warhammer The Horus Heresy – Legions Imperialis – Unboxing
It is finally here! We have a large release for Legions Imperialis, battles within the Horus Heresy in an epic scale! And we start with an unboxing of the starter set, covering Legiones Astartes, Solar Auxilia and even two Warhounds.
This will be the initial unboxing, followed by detailed, indepth reviews, as you have seen it in the past for example with the Age of Darkness or Leviathan boxed set. And it is great that we return once again to when I was there the day Horus slew the Emperor.
Horus Heresy – Legiones Astartes Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought
With the Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought, the third Dreadnought pattern after Leviathan and Contemptor made its transition from a resin kit towards plastic for the Horus Heresy range.
Beginning with the second edition of Warhammer 40k / post-Rogue Trader era, the classic pattern we know as a dreadnought is classified as Castraferrum Pattern Mark V Dreadnought, with the variants that were released by Forge World as Mark IV with slightly slender / less bulky proportions.
Horus Heresy – Legiones Astartes Battle Group
This new Legiones Astartes Battle Group brings not only the new Mk III power armoured Space Marines into battles of the Horus Heresy, but a new Dreadnought pattern, the Deredeo released as a plastic kit.
A bit smaller than the Age of Darkness boxed set, this Battle Group makes a great starting point for a Horus Heresy project, if the Beakies / Mk VI Marines weren't your cup of tea. And if you ask me, some Legions just have to wear Mark III armour, like the Death Guard or Imperial Fists.
Horus Heresy – Legions Imperialis
With yesterdays non-40k preview we had an epic teaser and reveal on the return of small scale battles in the Grim Dark future, but not covering 40k but 30k's conflict of the Horus Heresy. The name Epic is dropped and returns as Warhammer The Horus Heresy - Legions Imperialis.
And this means, I am spot on with my Horus Heresy on an epic scale and really looking forward, what the rules and new range brings along.
Games Workshop revealed a rulebook and starter set, which can be either used as a conflict or large army box, covering Space Marines and Solar Auxilia. The poster boys for this release are the death guard.
Warhammer 40,000 – Leviathan Primaris Sternguard and Characters
Let's finish the Space Marine part of the Warhammer 40,000 Leviathan boxed set. We showed you the Terminators, we covered the Ballistus Dreadnought and today it is about the Primaris Space Marines with Tacticus and Phobos Armour.
Two more characters, an Apothecary Biologis and Lieutenant in Phobos Armour, as well as a new Sternguard Veteran Squad and Infernus Squad.
Warhammer 40,000 – Leviathan Ballistus Dreadnought
Part of the Space Marine battle force from the Warhammer 40,000 Leviathan box is a new sub-class of the Redemptor Dreadnought, armed with a versatile missile launcher and a devastating twin-linked lascannon.
Of the Redemptor class of Dreadnoughts we've built the Brutalis Dreadnought in February and now have the chance to cover another Primaris scaled Dread.
