January 2026 review

Kicking off the hobby year

Let’s do a quick recap of January! We started the year with our first event, heading to Szenario Con 2026 near Bad Kreuznach, and it was a great way to shake off the winter break and meet familiar faces again. You can read the full event report and see more tables and impressions on the blog.

Szenario Con 2026

The first event of the year for us is Szenario Con 2026! Despite the poor weather conditions, we made it to Hackenheim. We discussed the location in last year's coverage. Nevertheless, no event report would be complete without a shot of the car park.

As usual, the event was hosted at the Bonnheimer Hof in the Palatinate region, near Bad Kreuznach.

Digital ticket booking was used to manage the available space and keep track of the number of people coming to SzenarioCon.

Happy New Year and December 2025 review

Happy New Year! In this post, we will look back at December and most of 2025, so we will cover more than just the last month.

You can also listen to our year-end recap on the Games 'n Dice Podcast, where Dino, Benni, Gregor and I discussed 2025.

Chaosbunker - Happy New Year 2020

2025 was packed with activities. To give you a few highlights:

After my Manticore Knight from Warhammer Quest was featured on the Warhammer Community website last month, my interpretation of the Da Red Gobbos Tinboy was selected for the Community Painters post this month! I'm very happy about this!

November 2025 review

It is christmas time and we're doing a recap of a event filled November.

The made-to-order Citadel Forest arrived, around four month, which came by surprise as the other made-to-order items I bought in the past were delivered much quicker. And they are celebrating 50 Years of Games Workshop in this month White Dwarf #518. Lots of Nostalgia, lots of throwbacks.

We'll be covering Star Wars in December, as we received two of the Star Wars Legion Starter Set, Galactic Empire and Rebell Alliance, and I ordered two of the Pillage Market Stall sets from Victrix.

Theban Hoplite Tutorial

It's been a while since I did a tutorial for my Corinthians. I admit, being the old geezer that I am, the tutorials mainly serve as a reminder to myself of how I painted a particular model. Since the Thebans received good feedback, I might paint more models for them in the future. Reason enough to create a little reminder...

Skin

Since these are figurespurely for playing, I put less effort into the layers this time than I did with the Corinthians. The base coat consisted of Kobold Skin (Army Painter), which was highlighted in a 1:3 ratio with Bonewhite (Vallejo Game Color). Then the entire surface was washed with Flesh Wash (Two Thin Coats). However, I added some red and additional Lahmian Medium to this, because Flesh Wash is more of a brown tone than a suitable wash for skin.

The previous color was used to accentuate some of the muscles and the hands. I added pure white to this mixture, which provided the final accent. You don't need to accentuate the feet, as they are usually not visible anyway.

TabletopWelt Paint Meeting 2025

It was that time again: the Tabletopwelt painting meet-up took place and drew us to Lützensommern at the Rittergut. You can find my report on the 2024 painting meet-up here, so we'll skip some basic information about the location this time.

The weather was better as well. Although it drizzled a little in between, the fact that it was a good 8 °C warmer than last year was a welcome change.

TabletopWelt Maltreffen 2025

As I was very busy last week, I started packing early. In addition to my painting supplies, I also brought something for the open bar. In addition to the full board provided by the youth hostel (including a fridge stocked with delicious Vita-Cola), many participants bring snacks or drinks from home, some of which are home-brewed. On the way there, I stopped at Haribo and picked up one of the large mixed kilo boxes. Later, numerous other sweets and snacks were added.

Art de la Guerre Team Tournament 2025

The Art de la Guerre Team Tournament was held on the Marksburg in Braubach last weekend. Having been there before, for example to watch the Field of Glory events, I took the opportunity to visit again.

Organised by Johannes Müther, the event covered teams of three split into the Ancients era (armies up to 551 BC), the Classical Antiquity era (armies from 550 BC to 476 AD) and the Middle Ages era (armies from 1050 AD). This tournament used the 4th Edition of L'Art de la Guerre rules, with 15–18 mm scale miniatures and forces of 200 points.

October 2025 review

I went on holiday in October and had a great time with my family in southern Bavaria.

We spent a few days in Munich, before moving further south to take day trips into the mountains and to various towns and smaller cities.

Konflikt 47 – Autoblinda Captured Vehicle

Holey Kamoley, it's been a while since I sat down for K47. Luckily, when I looked at the army lists, I noticed that the Commonwealth has now integrated the royalist side of the Italians, which somehow makes sense to me in terms of fluff, since the equipment is mostly British anyway.

So I quickly checked what I had at home for Konflict 47, and apart from an officer's staff in Galahad armor to lead my troops, I have everything I need. Well... everything, if I make a few adjustments...

For example, I once managed to pick up this Italian Autoblinda at Ad Arma Con for ten bucks. Originally, I just wanted to use it to build some scenery, and I had to repair a few cracks, like this broken fender, but now the car is set to take the place of the Humvee in the army.
