Warhammer The Horus Heresy – Legions Imperialis – Preview
The announcement we have all been waiting for is finally here and only weeks seperate us now from the release of The Horus Heresy Legions Imperialis, 30k combat in an epic scale! Pre-Order is going live on Saturday 18th (usually 10 am in your local time zone, for Europe it's 11 am) and the delivery is set for two weeks after that, on December 2nd.
We're still in the embargo window on the coverage, but we're very excited for the upcoming weeks and have a lot of content prepared.
This obviously means, we will drop EpicAU as a rule set for our tiny battles and go with the Legions Imperialis rule set, and move the projects accordingly. The Imperial Fists will stay, but with the now availability of Solar Auxilia, the opponent will still come from Cthonia, but not (just) be Sons of Horus anymore, but the Traitor Auxilia of the Cthonian Headhunters with an allied contingent of the former Lunar Wolves. Especially as the army building, and the battle report in White Dwarf confirmed this strongly, not only makes allies possible but encourages you to do.
We will do an unboxing and review of the first wave items, and do a lot of additional content around that. With Legions Imperialis sharing the same scale as Adeptus Titanicus and Aeronautica Imperialis, and the re-release of a lot of those boxed sets, a lot of our reviews since 2018 covering both ranges are of interest again, but others will be updated, for example the Warhound Scout Titans now with additional new weaponry.
Terrain will be something we will return to as well, our coverage on the Civitas Imperialis reviews is relevant (incl. Spires), as well as the Manufactorum Imperialis kit.
But this obviously doesn't stop there, as we not only got a few more of the boxes above and went a bit wild (detailled build reports and tutorials on that will be released). But we added third party items as well, for example GrimDarkTerrain. We covered their Hermes Salvage Titan in a past review, and have a few more items in the backlog.
So beside their new Imperial Palace ruins, they released in September and October - seen here in action with a Warhound Scout Titan - of which I already printed some tiles,
we will cover the extended range as well, as I ordered some of the larger items via MegaSonicPunch, like the Samson Freight Carrier, Aeolus Landing Plattform or Excavator Maioris.
I would have loved to already show you, what I am working on with the official models, but that has do wait until next week. Beyond that, the guys from the Battle of Uulda event are already excited for this new release, we are planing a Epic 30k event, that extends the Titanicus games to the new rules, and we will keep you posted on that as well. As this is great reason, to let the Titans walk again, to paint up further miniatures of my Legio Astraman and Legio Magna, add some tiny tanks and infantry to those projects and have a few games!
Are you excited? What are your plans with the new announcement? Did you already pair a Legion to your Legio?

I am very excited to see what you’ve done with the first wave releases! I’ve printed and painted the equivalent of the starter box contents as Iron warriors and a friend has done the same for Imperial Fists so we can play day one. When we get our hands on the starter boxes we will be doing Dark Angels and World Eaters respectively.
