Deth Wizards – The Stitcher’s Warband Pt 2

Let us pick up where we left of the last time - with the Stitcher's Warband. It has a name now and the majority of the base colours has been applied.

I need to do some touch ups and details. And as this blog functions as a notepad for my projects as well, this is what I used for Kemmler. You can see the pictures further below.

Deth Wizards – The Town Part 4

The progress on the houses took the majority of my easter holidays and I picked up where I left off the last time.

I added further paints to the buildings, starting with the grey for the chimneys.

CONflict Rhineland 2025

We've been looking forward to this! CONflict Rheinland took place again last weekend, and we once again hosted our own table with Deth Wizards this time.

To put this event into context, CONflict used to be a public event with traders until 2019, but it switched to a closed format when it was relaunched in 2022, and we've been going ever since. We've had tables of our own for the last three years. So, we packed the car with some essentials and headed for Langenfeld, near Leverkusen.

The event runs from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon, with some people only staying for Saturday. As we have shown you the car park so many times over the last few years, we skipped it this time. I know, I know — traditions with our event coverage — but unnecessary repetition is wasteful.

As everyday life caught up with some of the participants, there were some last-minute changes to the hosted games. But don't worry — the replacements and other options were colourful too.

Throwback – RPC 2011 Cologne Tabletop Demo Area

With the concept of the Role Play Convention returning in a re-boot as the Role Play Verse, it is a good opportunity to cover the Tabletop Demo Area of 2011 and 2012.

I went into detail about the beginnings of the T3G (TabletopTestGelände, German for Tabletop Demo Area) in the Throwback of the 2010 show, but to sum it up briefly, the Role Play Convention (RPC) was a show in Cologne (the first two years in Münster) covering various role playing contents, from video games, to LARP/cosplay and tabletop games (board, role playing and miniature based). In this wild mix, we had the great opportunity to introduce people to our hobby. We had a large area of 400m² / ~4,300 sqft area for our tabletop area and I coordinated various clubs, traders and manufacturers for the event.

Deth Wizards – The Town Part 3

My printer has been busy - really busy. Putting through 3 liters of resin in just a month. That might not sound a lot to some of you, but I use a mono 4k - mostly for bits and pieces - so that is a new record for me.

I gave you an overview, on what I printed in the last article, focusing on the scatter terrain itself, and now had a bit of larger and mid-sized sections.

Deth Wizards - The Town Part 3

While I did the mock-ups, inspired by the Warhammer Siege and Mordheim barricade sections, I placed them on some spare bases that I have (these are Renedra bases that come with a lot of historical miniatures). You can of course use plastic card, but I have more than enough of these and they provide a sturdy base to work with.

April 2025 review

In April happened a bit more than I anticipated. So let us do a recap.

I got lucky on one of my shopping trips and managed to get my hands on the 500E, which is quite sought after. This is not a treasure hunt and as I intend to repaint it for Gaslands, I don't mind the heavy glitter on this kit. I am just happy to have a more recent oldtimer for my German Gang in the game.

Hot Wheels - Mercedes Benz 500E

Right in the beginning of the month, we managed to squeeze in another event, that was not on our schedule at the start of the year. We did a family trip and went for Intermodellbau, the largest model building tradeshow. Our event coverage is split across two articles as we took a lot of pictures. Enjoy!

Deth Wizards – The Town Part 2

The buildings are dry and I started painting them, from the inside out. I wanted something, that looked a bit like the old Warhammer buildings from the battle reports.

Deth Wizards - The Town Part 2

On Facebook I came across this Mordheim City Board by MSTerrainLab and it captures pretty much, in a grimmer way, where I want to go with this. Yellow-beige walls, blue-ish roofs and a gray-ish highlight.

Deth Wizards – The Town Part 1

Let's get it on. The houses are assembled and gaps filled as far as possible. Now it is time to prepare them for painting.

I have my go-to for black primer, which is Hit Color Beltons RAL 9005 jet black (matt / flat). But in case of light colours or white, I don't have something similar. For the cenital light / dusting, I usually use Army Painter matt white (as Games Workshop dropped their Skull White and is only offering light greys), but that is too expensive and too light for this purpose. Why not use the Hit Color white for this? Well, it is not matt / flat, but a semi-gloss and you can't really use that - even for terrain.

So I started asking around and was recommended Spectrum Primer, which is sold by Action in Germany for less than 3 EUR per can. It is flat, it is medium gray and incredibly cheap.

Age of Sigmar – Kruleboyz Swampcalla Shaman with Pot-grot

In issue 09 of the Stormbringer subscription, we get one of the first characters for the Kruleboyz, a Swampcalla Shaman with Pot-grot.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Issue 09

This miniature was initially released as part of the Age of Sigmar Dominion boxed set (the 3rd edition starter set from 2021), just like the Lord Imperarant, and now is available through the Stormbringer magazine for 10,99 EUR or from Games Workshop directly for 32,50 EUR.

Both miniatures fit inside a single sprue, and are currently the only regular sculpts for this unit on foot (the other one being the named character Gobsprakk on Killabeak, and Mugruk da Watcha, which was a 2022 event exclusive).

Intermodellbau 2025 Part 1

Last week, from Thursday to Sunday, the Intermodellbau in Dortmund was held. The World's largest trade fair for model building & model sports.

Intermodellbau Dortmund 2025

The Intermodellbau is a show, that covers various aspects of the model building hobby, from RC cars to model trains, model kits build from paper, plastic or metal, in all different scales from z-scale to full-scale replicas. It is not a wargaming event but due to the proximity with building models and painting them, we want to give it a try and show you our event coverage on here.

The venue, the trade halls and Westfalenhalle (often used for concerts and other cultural events), are located next to the football stadium Westfalenstadion (home of Borussia Dortmund) and the ice sport centre, and sport a large area for parking as well a good connection towards the highway. The show itself spreads out across six of the eight halls of the venue.
