Crisis 2019 – Part I
Not the usual first weekend in November, but the second was the date for Crisis this year, due to the holidays and a Halloween Party at the Waagnatie. So Crisis 2019 was held on the weekend of November 9th in Antwerp.
Clear blue sky over Flandern. My 7th Crisis and Dino's first one, so headed over to the show and were excited about this years tables, offers and novelties. We were there a bit early, so we got lucky in the parking lot and the queue.
Frostgrave: A Sword and Sorcery Adventure – Part 1
Rekamark was not a very impressive city, but anyone who wanted to go to Felstadt found themselves at one of the last halfway civilized outposts of mankind before entering the ruins of the cursed city.
"Rekamark," Balthasar said to his apprentice Achibald, thoughtfully folding his arms.
"You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious...".
And with this little intro I would like to welcome you to the next ongoing project at the Chaosbunker. Okay, I know that there were already a few articles about Frostgrave and that I actually didn't want to start building a warband until 2020, but when I assembled and painted the first models, the enthusiasm got its grip on me. It just felt good to get back into a generic sword and sorcery fantasy setting and let my creativity run wild.
Journey of the Maulers: A legendary pun
For quite some time I wasn't sure whether I should repaint this gentleman or not. This thrower was the first conversion for the Maulers and also the test mini for the colour scheme. I remember sacrificing the figure of a classic savage orc shaman on boar to get the hand that points away from him - a typical quarterback movement in American Football.
Journey of the Maulers: Forever Gabru
After I started to play my Wanderleague parallely to painting the remaining players, the presentation mode has also changed slightly. Besides the introduction of a new player I will also try to give some game summaries, give an update about the season and add some snapshots.
But first the next player: Gabru Kneebreaka is, as the name suggests, from the fanclub of da Kneebreakaz. The idea for it came before I even painted the fans. This Blitzer is a homage, a small thank you to all the faithful readers, who follow the project now already in the 15th article.
Of Kings, Knights and Halloween on the Black Seas
It is the Halloween weekend and I thought that I had seen a horror-scenario for Black Seas, but I am unable to find it. Anyhow, there is Dreadfleet, of which I used the battle mat from the boxed set already with Cruel Seas.
Dreadfleet was a bit of a surprise back in 2011, when it was released as a stand-alone boxed-set. The rumours lead many to believe, that we would see a re-release of 1993's Man-o-War.
Journey of the Maulers: Blackorcs
Blackorcs are always a tricky one for me, because according to the fluff they have noticeably darker skin than other orcs. For the fans I painted one by using the same colors as in the tutorial for ordinary orcs, but this was a very, very time-consuming method and I was looking for a recipe that would allow me to keep the comic-like look and still achieve a visually appealing result. Meanwhile I think I found my recipe for it, as I also found a good base color in the Vallejo Game Color range: Dark Green. Dark Green is a little brighter than the classic Dark Angels Green by Games Workshop and can be highlighted relatively well with Bonewhite or shaded with a black wash.
Crisis 2019 Prelude
On Saturday, November 9th, the Tinsoldiers of Antwerp host once again the largest wargaming show on continental europe - the CRISIS!
Crisis stays at its location, two hangars of Waagnatie Expo & Events in the harbour district of Antwerp (Belgium).
Warhammer Mainz: Shop Birthday and Everchosen
On September 14th the Warhammer store in Mainz celebrated its third birthday and held the Everchosen competition for it's customers in Mainz. The atmosphere was pretty good and besides the usual games there was also a delicious cake to enjoy. Visitors who were eager to buy had the opportunity to take part in a small raffle in which various goodies could be won.
The quality of the entries was quite good for my impression, which is why I was all the more surprised when the vote count finally chose my Blood Bowl team, the Skycastle Titans, as the winner.
Feldherr Inlay for Beastgrave
Just in time for Spiel in Essen the foam inlays by Feldherr are ready for the next season of Warhammer Underworlds Beastgrave.
I received the friendly package shortly after my review on the starterkit, and as I already have the starter boxes of the first two seasons upgraded with the foam inlays, I was looking forward to do so with Beastgrave as well.
Steam and October White Dwarf
On Friday the current issue (October 2019) of White Dwarf arrived, Warhammer Community already gave it a brief preview on the content. As I have the subscription issue, I have a slightly different cover. This one has a complete cover showing the artwork of the Wrath and Rapture boxed set, that was released last december.
