October 2025 review
I went on holiday in October and had a great time with my family in southern Bavaria.
We spent a few days in Munich, before moving further south to take day trips into the mountains and to various towns and smaller cities.
July 2025 review
Now that we have entered the third quarter of this year, let's take a quick look back at July. July saw some major events.
Unfortunately, the German Stormbringer subscription has come to an end. Thank you again to Hachette for supplying us with the issues for our coverage. We enjoyed writing about it and giving it a try.
However, we won't be covering Combat Patrol here. This is not because it is not an interesting magazine, but because a lot of the content has already been covered here, especially with the extensive Warhammer 40,000 Leviathan coverage. As the German edition is published after the international one, there is little novelty value from a content creator's point of view, and we would be referring our readers to articles we published in 2023.
June 2025 review
Half time for 2025! And it is time for a recap of June.
Even with the few holidays and bridging days, it was quite busy. Especially in combination with heat since the mid of the month. My son and I did a trip to the Limes Fortlet and Watchtower in Pohl. You can find the visit on the blog, and it will certainly not be the last trip report you'll see here this year. Looking forward with the kids getting older, to check out some sights like Teutoburger Wald, Niederwalddenkmal and Völkerschlachtdenkmal.
One activity was clearing out my studio. Sorting items and projects that I no longer follow and mostly reducing my terrain collection. Among those items for example is the Pegasus Hobbies Gothic City, of which I have five sets here. I'll publish a trade post on here, with various bundles and lots, as I want to free up space.
May 2025 review
Wow, okay, I felt like I just had written the April review and now I'm already writing the next recap.
Another busy but very entertaining month. In May we've been to CONflict Rhineland, and had a blast! I played multiple games, had fun in ancient greece as well as on the high seas, and of course with Deth Wizards.
It was great to see everybody again and it is sad, that it'll probably take at least until September for the next gaming meetup.
July 2024 review
Welcome to August, and let us look back to July.
While I even managed to squeeze in a paint-meetup with my buddy Lukas, to get some progress on my Caledor Dragons, I unfortunately have to throw in the towel regarding the 18 miniatures in 3 month competition, as I really didn't get that much done on that Blood Bowl Team this month.
September 2021 review
Sum up comes a bit early, but as I'm on vacation from today on, that's how it is going to be.
I am heading back to Northern Spain, for some family time. Last trip to Cantabria was 2016, and I covered Covadonga, MUPAC - Museum of Prehistory and Archaeology of Cantabria among others while I was there. This time will be more R&R, but I still hope to cover things like Castillo de Argueso, Corrales de Buelna and Comillas.
Weekend Update CW 26/2020
Earlier this week, Warlord Games announced Sea Monsters for Black Seas. Which is quite cool, as I was already looking for a white whale miniature. And I managed to clean up all of the schooners. Lot of pewter ... unfortunately rather soft pewter.
Weekend Update CW 20/2020 – Roofing, Backlogs and Lego
Had a bit of spare time on friday night and took up the kitbash of the Laketown House. A more detailled coverage on the build will soon follow. Mixed up a bit of Grey Stuff by P3 and took care of the gaps between the shingles and wall pieces. And as usual, you end up with too much modelling clay.
First Weekender of 2020
What a week, wasn't it? My Nottingham "Family Matters" Tour 2020 is covered on here and created quite the buzz, thanks for the feedback and especially for breaking the next mark on facebook! In case you missed it;
- Warhammer World 2020 - Hobby Centre, Gaming Area and Bugmans Bar
- Warhammer World 2020 - Exhibition Centre Part 1
- Warhammer World 2020 - Exhibition Centre Part 2
I am quite happy with the pictures from the miniature exhibition, as I brought a long a new gadget that I got myself a few weeks ago. A flexibel lens hood. Got it on Kickstarter, its the Ultimate Lens Hood 2.0, and went for the double pledge, that incl. one for my smartphone as well.
And I am back!
We began the new year with a brief vacation in England, with trips to London and Nottingham.
Spent the majority of the time in London, going for a city tour. We had our daughter with us, so this was a family trip and not a guys tour as some of the other journeys I have covered here. Therefore content and focus was a bit different, but I'll come to that later.
While in London, we went for some of the must-haves, parks and squares, that would be accessable with a stroller. While near Hyde Park I came across the Animals in War Memorial, and had to think of of the Man with the Donkey in Wellington, NZ at the National War Memorial. Of course, with my latest interest in the age of sail, and Black Seas, a visit to Trafalgar Square was out of question. And you know about my gusto for burgers, so having the chance to drop by one of the very few Shake Shacks outside of the United States, I just had to.
