8,8 cm FlaK 37 for the Afrikakorps

I already have an 8,8 FlaK, the kit by Warlord Games / Italeri, and the Blitzkrieg one, but as I wanted a mounted one, that could be towed, I looked into the Rubicon kit as well (and because my Afrikakorps almost exclusively uses Rubicon kits for vehicles).

The Rohan settlement grows

So after collecting a few ideas, I went on to build the remaining kits. If you are planning on "free building", I suggest that you lay out the pieces you intend to use, to get an idea on size as well as the availability of the parts you need.

The reason why I went with the regular build in the review of the Rohan house was, to get an understanding for the kit. The get to know the function and the way how the pieces interact with eachother and what might be a too daring endevour.

Collecting a few ideas on Rohan houses

A bird never flew on one wing, and that's the reason why a single house is not enough for a proper settlement - even a small one. As stated in one of the weekend updates, I added a few further house kits to the stock, to be able to tinker a bit.

Lord of the Rings – Rohan House

Games Workshop released towards the end of 2019, along with an update for the Middle Earth game system, two new terrain kits for Rohan, a house and a combination of walls and a tower. We'll look into the house today.

Krupp Protze in the Spanish Civil War

Around early summer last year, I added another light vehicle (a T-26) to my Spanish Civil War (SCW) army. And I am always looking for further, small and/or light (armoured) vehicles to add to this project.

I knew about the heavy field car Krupp Protze being used by the Wehrmacht, mostly as Sd.Kfz. 70 or 69. As it was service since 1934 until the end of world war 2, it would fit into the time frame of the SCW. But when I found this picture in the spanish Bolt Action group on facebook, in service of the nationalist army during the spanish civil war (as Sd.Kfz. 69 towing a PaK 36), I thought it might be a good addition to that project.

And indeed, it would be a good fit for the Bolt Action project. I play the Nationalist as an early war army and the Krupp Protze is simply a heavy field car with a transport capacity of up to 6 and / or a tow for smaller guns. As it would be either a nice transport for a small veteran unit, or to tow a PaK 36 as it is shown in the picture. The civil war was even the first theatre of war, where the gun saw action. So "fluff-wise" we're absolutely safe here.

Oathmark Goblin Infantry

Another non-human boxed set for the Oathmark range is the Goblin Infantry. I've already covered the Elves and the Dwarves in the past, so if you want to take a look at them, click the links above.

Oathmark - Goblin Infantry Oathmark - Goblin Infantry

The Oathmark - Battles of the Lost Age range is a project by Osprey Games and North Star Military Figures, with Renedra covering the casting. I didn't buy this kit nor did North Star gave it to me for review purposes, I traded it from the travelling box HANS!. That is the reason why the box is a bit beat up and the sprue of square bases is missing.

Black Seas – 3rd Rates Squadron

In addition to the Frigates and Brigs from earlier this week, I want to cover the third plastic sprue as well - the 3rd rates. These are currently available as a squadron of 3 in a boxed set.

Black Seas - 3rd Rates Squadron Black Seas - 3rd Rates Squadron

The name third rate comes from the British rating of ships of the line. A third rate ship of the line would usually have 64 to 80 guns mounted, thus making it less gunned than a second rate ship (90 to 98 guns) and first rates with 100 guns and more (so far only available as resin models by Warlord Games.), both usually have an additional gun deck, sometimes even two in case of the first rates.

Black Seas – Frigates and Brigs Flotilla

After expanding Bolt Action into the naval combat with Cruel Seas, Black Powder benefits from a similar treatment and is expanded into the Age of Sails with the new Black Seas ruleset. Warlord Games introduced three new plastic sprues with ships in 1/700th scale of which we're going to cover the Frigates and Brigs today.

These sprues are part of the Master & Commander starter set as well, but are available as a Flotilla for 20 GBP and cover two Frigates and four Brigs.
