A miniature Odyssey – Bonus round
All right, I' ll admit it - this is the first time I' m looking forward to a project under time pressure. It's probably because I like the subject so much. I can literally see an army of the dead rising before me.
But even an army of the dead needs something to give it character - in the case of Mortal Gods Mythic, it is the fallen hero who is the counterpart to a Promachos.
Cruel Seas – Close Quarters Supplement
I have covered Cruel Seas starter set, Strike Fast, Strike Hard, in late september. Earlier this year Warlord Games a supplement for it, Close Quarters.
Weekend Update CW 25/2020
Earlier this week, the first part of my Lake Town kitbash went online. We started with the main building, next up the stairs and pathways, and I'm already on that, as you can see.
A miniature Odyssey – Priest of Hades
The preparations for my Summer Project for Mortal Gods are in full swing and I hope to finish my bonus round before the first of July, if possible. I have already taken the first step on this path - the first priest of Hades is ready and I might add another one over the course of time.
A miniature Odyssey – Harryhausen’s best
Aaaah, skeletons, a real classic! I think everyone of us has encountered these stereotypical villains in some way or another, be it in computer games, movies, or during a very old-fashioned walk through the haunted house at the fair. In my case, the image has been formed by the classic Jason and the Argonauts movie, of which you can still easily find film scenes on YouTube.
A miniature Odyssey – Peltastic start
While I was removing moldlines and assembling the first minis, I had the idea to give each troop of my Mortal Gods army a certain theme. Well, that's not that easy, since there were no real uniforms in ancient Greece - everyone brought what they had with them to the battle. But since I'm more the "Rule of Cool" type, I decided to give the first squad of Peltasts a Thracian character, i.e. shields with rather rural looking patterns like cowhides and helmets in Phrygian style.
Unfortunately I noticed after the first model that I only had one Phrygian helmet in the cast and eventually turned them into a few common mercenaries. Although there was no real uniform in ancient times, I will use green tones for the rest of the troop and keep the helmets in silver.
Cruel Seas – Royal Airforce and Luftwaffe
While I'm currently reading the Close Quarters supplement for Cruel Seas, I return to the aircrafts that I have around for air support on the channel.
Quite a while back I bought a few of the larger Trumpeter packs, as I thought an air combat game in topgun style would be fun, maybe to defend an aircraft carrier. From that idea I still have the F4F-4 Wildcat here, the other kits (Douglas TBD and SBD) I traded with the Sweetwater travelling box, as only the Grumman were used by the British under the designation Martlet / Wildcat Mk. IV. As it would be unfair to just give the Royal Navy some support from above, I got something for the Kriegsmarine as well.
A miniature Odyssey – Of Mortal Gods and inspiration
At the beginning of March, the starter box of Mortal Gods found its way to me, which was exactly my thing, as I have a little bit of a thing going for Greek mythology. That' s why now is a good opportunity to make a longer running project out of it, to paint everything up and put some heart into it.

For projects of this kind I have a few preferences. I like it when I have everything I need to play in one box. Meaning there are two factions in the box, an easy to learn set of rules, game equipment like dice and the likes, terrain and a game field.
Weekend Update CW 22/2020
Another prolonged weekend ahead. It's whitsun and that means a holiday on monday. Traditionally a weekend with a lots of festivals, like Rock am Ring, will be a lot less crowded.
As I am still re-sorting the bunker, this week was a bit slow on the articles, I covered the first of the re-shoots with the boba-fett style bountyhunter for Inq28, and Dino continues the Journey of the Maulers with an article on the fans.
Weekend Update CW 21/2020 – Oldhammer, mexican food and equipment
Prolonged weekend over ascension thursday / fathers day!
Working from home continues and my "office" is more of a studio than an office-in-home, so I work where I usually do my reviews and such. The notebook took a toll on the cutting mat and the exposure to the heat made it warp quite a bit. Therefore I replaced it with a new one and added a smaller A3 one on top. But will switch back on monday, when the regular work week continues.
And finally my Warlord order arrived, including my new open sea gaming mat, that I want to use with Cruel Seas and Black Seas. Along with the ships by Hagen Miniatures, I am looking forward to put the naval week(s) on here.
