Impressions of KoMiCon 2013
The annual KoMiCon in Koblenz was a few weeks ago and i took a couple of pictures of the Field of Glory tournament.
Bolt Action
Yesterday I played another round of Bolt Action, this time with Christian / Fritz giving him an introduction to the game. And what can I say, we did not only have fun, I have won another player for Bolt Action.
Bolt Action could show what it's good at. It is fast, it is lean and offers a lot of entertainment. A good combination without being to simple. For the next time we know, we need more terrain.
There are no pictures of that game - for a reason. Why? Well first off all, a bunch of unpainted miniatures on a proxied table are a rather sad thing to look at, but i have plans.
What plans? Well, I am still missing a central piece for my gaming table, a gaming mat made from acryl. The pictures were taken from Frank Bauer, one of the big guys in german wargaming and a driving force behind the Tactica.
Warlord Games – Behind the scenes 2013
Within the Warlord Games Day, that was not used just for gaming, but although an open-door day, was a good chance to see what is going on behind the scenes.
And for all of those, who weren't there and didn't win one of the golden tickets, a couple of pictures.
Warlord Games showed a few casting molds, to show how miniatures were sculpted and casted. Beside 3-Ups (they are called like this because they are 3 times the size of the final product), that are used to produce plastic miniatures, you could see some greens and greys. That is the name of the miniatures, sculpted in green or grey modelling clay, that are later on casted in pewter or resin.
Final spurt of may
Another weekend started and i want to share the new arrivals at the chaosbunker.
Whitsun
A prolonged Whitsun Weekend means some time for the hobby. I put some additional paint onto the Khador, more progress on the basic colours. Slowly, but steady.
Reinforcement
After a cheer endless wait and a major mess up by the post (somehow losing 2 packages on their way to me ...), friday was finally post day and some good stuff arrived.
Masking Tape and Flakes Again
I used the weekend inhouse, due to bad weather and hay fever, and did some further painting on the tanks. The Vallejo Dunkelgelb tends to be a bit to dark, even for dark yellow. So i gave the tanks a new coat of the dunkelgelb but with a few drops of Pegasus Leinenweiss. Beside that i wasn't that happy with the first camo try.
Paint off, Paint on
I have chosen to strip the Kingtiger off the paint, using Mellerud as it can be used for Resin. Gave it a quick bath for 2 hours and got rid of all the remaining primer and flakes.
Yellow … flakes?
As promised, the next layer of colour on the tanks. Its Vallejo RAL Dunkelgelb as Surface Primer. You could spray it right onto the tank, but i prefer doing it on top of a primer.
T(h)ank you …
As promised, after the camo netting dried, the tanks got their primer. I was asked, how did you do the camo netting? I used some old gauze bandages and tissue paper (the center area of the tissue without the structure). You simply cut it into the right size, dip it into a mixture of pva and water, wipe off excessive amounts of the pva-water-mixture and bring it into position. As the material soaks full with the mixture and later on dries nearly rock hard, it can be used for gaming purposes without any problems.
