X-Mas Presents a.k.a. 2016 teaser
Wow, what a month! 24 days in a row, lots different content and articles. Hope you enjoyed it as much, as i did writing it.
But i am not quite finished yet, there is more to come next year, after i had a short break. So as a special christmas present, i want to let you in on what's under the tree.
I have a few board games in the queue, among others there is Arcadia Quest, Dead of Winter and Rise of the Kage.
Age of Tyrants Preview
The World of Urban War has a comeback. After a Skirmish with Urban War, and the larger Metropolis, with Age of Tyrants it is about 6mm mass combat.
Myriad Miniatures is in charge of this project, has gathered some well known names around them and got Prodos in for the resin casting, who also support for example Freebooter Miniatures with their Ogre, Armoured Syndicate and others.
Pinterest: Lead Plague, Back of Beyond and Panzerserra
Last few days until christmas, and i want to show some really special blogs from my pinterest board. I hope you guys liked the advent calender so far, and a ready to spend some time with your family and friends, have a rest, and maybe enjoy a game and a cold pint.
First pick is from France, Lead Plague. A pretty cool old school project log, about Rogue Trader and Oldhammer. Some original vintage miniatures, along with conversions of newer ones to fit in with the old vibe. Enjoy the nostalgy.
Thoughts on Specialist Games revival
The rumours are spreading and growing wild, so far only one thing was confirmed - Games Workshop is re-founding a studio for the Specialist Games.
Is this a reason to get exited? Yes and no. Why both answers? It depends on what you are looking for.
Pinterest: Pijlie, Je Lay Emprins and KrautScientist
Here we are, Christmas is coming closer and i want to show you the next three picks from my pinterest board.
Let's begin with Pijlie's Wargames Blog, a dutch neighbor. His Jugula project was the one, i found first and other ongoing projects are not less interesting. So beside the 1:35 gladiator set-up, that i follow as well with the same miniatures, you'll find awesome paintjobs, Frostgrave and nice tours, among others in Berlin.
If you want to get a closer look on those miniatures and maybe meet a few of them in person, pay a visit to Poldercon in Utrecht, NL, on 7th February 2016.
Fischkrieg Space Mat Starfield
Fischkrieg offers gaming mats for quite a while now, but updated their portfolio with new mats made from a material similar to a mousepad.
Evaluating Dystopian Wars
I wrote about evaluating my projects a few days ago, doing a SWOT-analysis, and would like to start with Dystopian Wars.
First off, what are the four characteristics that i am going to check with Dystopian Wars? They are emotion, probability, space and players. But before that, let's get everybody up to level about Dystopian Wars. It is a Victorian/pre-World War One Steampunk/Sci-Fi setting, set in an - you guessed right - dystopian world. In this case it is a mass combat ruleset, set around 1:1200 scale, which offers you gaming on the water, on the land and in the air.
Happy Hasslefree Halloween
It took a bit to arrive, due to their vacation there was a bit of a delay. But the wait was worth it.
They had a Halloween sale (20% off, so i saved more or less the VAT on the miniatures). I posted the order on 15th october, they shipped it on 3rd November and it arrived on the 10th. For the delay they added a nice goodie bag to the order.
Renedra Sandbags
Renedra covers quite a lot terrain plastic kits nowadays and among them is an accessoire sprue with sandbags. These come in single or double pack for 5 / 8 GBP.
Of running in shadows and frosty graves
Frostgrave was recently released by Osprey and North Star Miniatures and the Nickstarter for the expansion, Thaw of the Lich Lord, is online and already through the first stretch goals. As i am still struggling, if i can resist to pledge for the expansion before i even started building the basic rules and two warbands ... it's a a hard decision 😀
