Ersatz StuG III Ausf. G Work-in-Progress
Almost there with the Ersatz StuG Ausf. G for the 150th Panzerbrigade / Unternehmen Greif. Finished the white wash camo, decals are done, weathering with mud and cracks is satisfying. Only part missing so far is the stowage. Have to take care of the spare wheel, the jerrycans and the Zeltbahn. Actually, I'm thinking about doing a splinter-pattern on the one side and leave the other one white, as snow camo.
When I started converting the Ersatz StuG I had a few black and white pictures of the Battle of the Bulge aftermath, and some more pictures of the Flames of War 15mm variant and a conversion tutorial by Warlord Games. In addition I found this one by Roy Chow on Network 54. I covered my own conversion in here (Unternehmen Greif) and here (Captured Ford M8a).
Winter is coming
With the last two month of this year right around the corner, the planning for Winter is necessary. One of the next events on my schedule is the Crisis, as I already shared with you here - Crisis 2017 prelude.
Usually I prepare an advent calendar for December, but this year I'll schedule something different. I'd like to switch to some themed weeks, but still delivery some special topics on the advent sundays. So what do I have on my mind? Well, the review schedule has still a few things to cover. You are most likely well aware of the world war 2 heavy content, so expect a some vehicle kits in resin and plastic, and a few infantry sets among them as well.
Dark Imperium – Praise Father Nurgle
The new Warhammer 40,000 Set Dark Imperium was released recently and I split the box with a few people, keeping two Death Guard Plague Marines, the twenty Pox Walkers and a handful of Primaris Marines for myself. For this article, I want to keep the focus on the followers of the great father Nurgle.
The Pox Walkers have their own sprue, which is included two times in the set (basically giving you two sets of 10 each) and the body of a Death Guard Plague Marine. I went with the Plague Marine 8a and 8g.
Cantabrum Indoctum Iuga Ferre Nostra
"Cantabrum indoctum iuga ferre nostra - Cantabria, that won't bear our yoke", Quintus Horatius Flaccus.
Continuing the ancient SAGA projects, more cavalry arrived for the Iberians. I had a bit of trouble continuing this part of the SAGA warbands, as Victrix is a bit of a problem to get your hands on. Some sets, like the Balearic Slingers are direct only, others are regularly available. Never the less, the Iberians are the third warband, after Germans and Romans.
I introduced the Celt-Iberians in this first post, talking about the background and I have two further post about northern Spain and the Museum of Archaeology of Cantabria (MUPAC). But begin with the bulk, most of the units are already build and based.
Para Bellum – Reinforcement for the Romans
While currently preparing a load of reviews, painting terrain and base colours, I got a small reinforcement for the SAGA Romans.
Keeping busy in Spring
There were only a few updates since mid of march, but I've been busy in the meantime and I want to give you a look into what I was tinkering on.
I'm currently preparing a bit Bolt Action themed content, some of the new plastic kits, along with the 2nd Edition rule set and starter box. Been building the US Airborne, quite a nifty kit, but more on that in an upcoming review.
Unternehmen Greif – Ersatz StuG
As I took care of the Rubicon Models StuG just a few days ago, I already mentioned, that I've been tinkering with that kit.
The next Bolt Action supplement, Battle of the Bulge, is just around the corner and we have a lot of winter troops around. I have a fable for captured vehicles and special vehicles, so I decided to build my winter germans around the Unternehmen Greif and one of the Kampfgruppe X-Z.
I already prepared a Panther M10, using the resin kit by Warlord Games and adding a few parts from the Rubicon plastic Panther kit.
Mustering Caesars Legion
After introducing the initial idea of Ancient SAGA with Caesar's Legion, it is time to bring some (plastic) pieces together and get it started. The basic foundation of this project are two boxes of plastic 28mm romans from Warlords Hail Caesar range.
Jumping from 2016 to 2017
Happy New Year!
After a relaxing last evening in 2016, let us welcome the new year! It was a cold, foggy sky last night, but the city was lit up by fireworks.
