Crusader Carts
Inspired by the SAGA Scenario "The Escort", i'm looking for something that would make a good baggage train for my spanish Crusaders. As I already used miniatures from the Perry Crusader range, I thought it made sense to look at their range again for the additional baggage train / wagons.
Unfortunately, they don't have specific ones for the crusades, but others from the War of the Roses range. I'm not a specialist on these, so which would fit an early middle ages, around 1.000 - 1.200 A.D.? They have a few, between 11 and 21 pound to offer.
Starting a Genestealer Cult
I'm quite amazed by the recent release of the Genestealer Cult. Games Workshop seems to do a lot of interesting and well meant things currently. Horus Heresy in plastic, first look at Adeptus Custodes in plastic as well, and then these Rogue Trader flashback in form of the genestealer cult.
I was already hooked when they released Deathwatch Overkill, and I managed to acquire the part of the genestealer cult for a small dime.
KV2 finished, KV1 and Panther M10 in progress
The captured KV2 / PzKpfw 754(r) is finished. I did final touches on the armour, and finished the tracks. After painting the colours, drybrush and wash, i added homemade mud-paste and model gras.
BitBox Aftermath & vacation
The sunday before easter, the 9th Bitbox was held in Mülheim an der Ruhr. I got my own table to sell off parts of my collection and it was quite busy, as you can see, so i hadn't had the chance to take that many pictures.
Around noon it was really really crowded, and miniatures and money were exchanged - often and happily. And you could still feel the "afterwaves" of the big notice wave last year at Games Workshop Germany. Still lots of promotional stuff, employee exclusives and even official gear on sale. And the hosts, Freebooter Miniatures, was offering their range as well.
Fallschirmjäger, Wintergear and captured vehicles
I'm currently in full Bolt Action mode. The winter gear germans arrived and i'll cover them in an article on their own, with a bit of unboxing and reviewing. And the recently released plastic Fallschirmjäger will get some love too. But to be honest, it wasn't hard to come up with some love for those, as the kit itself is amazing and i had a lot of fun building them.
Terrain and Star Wars
Aquarium deco pieces are useful if you're looking for something special as a terrain piece. So this buddha statue would be a nice addition for a jungle scenario, like burma, and at 13 Euro quite cheap. So i added a picture with a 28mm miniature, to show the incredible size of that - prepainted - piece.
More Mars Attacks and Spaniards
Mid of the january we continued our painting projects. Flo on his - now enlarged - Mars Attacks collection, and i continued on the spaniards. I've added a few pilgrims as another 1 point selection to my crusaders. Those are perry miniatures codes CU26 and CU27.
Painting get together
A good friend of mine got himself a great deal on Mantics Mars Attacks at a local gaming store. He's a board gamer and found himself now in possession of miniatures, and asked me if i could help him getting started. So what's better than have a painting get together?
Said and done, spread out a piece of cloth and open up some drinks. Ready to go.
sprues, tanks and handworker stores
Some items, some very useful items, you find in the handworker stores. While catching some items for work, i grabbed a few sheets of abrasive paper and some clamps. You get such things specificaly for model building, but the diy-store usually have the more reasonable prices.
Happy Hasslefree Halloween
It took a bit to arrive, due to their vacation there was a bit of a delay. But the wait was worth it.
They had a Halloween sale (20% off, so i saved more or less the VAT on the miniatures). I posted the order on 15th october, they shipped it on 3rd November and it arrived on the 10th. For the delay they added a nice goodie bag to the order.
