Painting get together
A good friend of mine got himself a great deal on Mantics Mars Attacks at a local gaming store. He's a board gamer and found himself now in possession of miniatures, and asked me if i could help him getting started. So what's better than have a painting get together?
Said and done, spread out a piece of cloth and open up some drinks. Ready to go.
sprues, tanks and handworker stores
Some items, some very useful items, you find in the handworker stores. While catching some items for work, i grabbed a few sheets of abrasive paper and some clamps. You get such things specificaly for model building, but the diy-store usually have the more reasonable prices.
Happy Hasslefree Halloween
It took a bit to arrive, due to their vacation there was a bit of a delay. But the wait was worth it.
They had a Halloween sale (20% off, so i saved more or less the VAT on the miniatures). I posted the order on 15th october, they shipped it on 3rd November and it arrived on the 10th. For the delay they added a nice goodie bag to the order.
Afrikakorps and Conversions
Spend some time at the weekend with the airbrush. Preparing my Afrikakorps, which consists mostly of Rubicon vehicles and Perry infantry.
I started with Vallejo black primer. You can use it directly from the bottle, but i thin it down a bit never the less. You get a thinner coat with the airbrush, compared to the spray can. But it takes a bit longer. And it is a bit more matt finish. At the moment the motorized part of the Afrikakorps consists of an Tiger I, a Panzer III and IV, SdKfz 251 and Opel Blitz, with two more to come. The Greif and Kübelwagen aren't prepared yet and will follow in another batch.
The Walking Dead Bust
A while ago, i found an article online how somebody converted a Walking Dead piggybank into a bust. I remembered, i saw one of those at our local comicbook store, so i head over and checked the price. Below 20 bucks, fine with me!
I started taping the base, so the logo wouldn't be damaged while painting and closed the coin slot in the back with grey stuff. And i fixed some of the joints and minor assembling gaps with grey stuff and vallejo putty.
Spanish Crusaders
I introduced the spanish Crusaders a while ago. And i want to share the current status with you. The bases were prepared with spackle, pva and sand.
More Movies and MDF
So while watching a couple of movies (The magnificent seven and An honest liar) along with binge watching the 2nd season Bojack Horseman on netflix a few weeks ago, i continued working on the Spartan Scenics.
Bolt Action Afrikakorps II
In addition to the short review on the plastic Afrikakorps, i will show you the other miniatures of this project. Head of this army is no other than Rommel himself. The Perrys do offer him inside his famous Greif, but this one is a show exclusive from World War AE / Cipher Studio. He is accompanied by the Zug Command from the Perry metal range.

Spartan Scenic Sci-Fi Set
A while ago, actually roughly 2 years ago, i bought over a couple of month the majority of the Spartan Scenic Sci-Fi System boxes. Beginning with the Starter Set in September 2013.
