HANS! Number 5 is alive

Late last year I participated in HANS! the traveling wargaming treasure chest, and another one was sent on its way in June, just to arrive on wednesday at my door step.

DHL didn't do the best job this week, after destroying a package and losing its content from Nuremberg to me, that was one bad experience and now taking over a week to ship HANS! about 280 km within Germany, wasn't that great either. But thankfully HANS arrived in good shape.

As I wasn't keen on picking this one up at the post office, I took care to accept HANS in person and as they have the tendency to drop by while the little on sleeps, I have mastered the art of catching them before ringing the door bell. And there he was, in all his packed glory.

HANS! arrives

With all the shows and events being cancelled this year, and my last contact with wargaming person being my visit to Warhammer World in january, I was really really looking forward to do some digging through the boxes.

Realm of Chaos – Hooves and Fur Part III

The kick off of the summer project and we got everything we need. A deadline, prepared miniatures, a manageable scope and peer-pressure. This is what we've waited for. This is it boys, this is war! Each month beginning from today, I have to paint six miniatures reach my goal. So I split the models into three groups.

I did the basing and as mentioned in the first article, used different sizes. So far the regular ones went on 25mm round bases, the heroes on 32mm and the minotaur on a 40mm round. After that, I took care of the gaps in the bases with grey stuff from P3 and added some smaller pebbles on the larger bases.

A miniature Odyssey – Start of the Summer Project

Finally I can start with the summer project of the TabletopWelt board and paint my army of Hades! Although I'm not sure yet if this is a good or a bad thing, because, as I already mentioned a few times, I have to paint 18 miniatures in three months, which I usually don't even manage in a year.

So there's this bunch of skeletons and I have to commit to the first of three blocks. I think it will be best to start with the archers, because they also contain the most non-metallic colors - the arrows, the quiver and the bow.

White Dwarf #453 April 2020

While some of you may already the #454 issue, the April issue of White Dwarf arrived here last week. Due to the corona post hick-ups my subscription copy was lost, but the Games Workshop customer service took care of it, and send a replacement on its way.

Therefore we have the regular cover of White Dwarf #453 April 2020 (yet the month stated has to be taken rather loosely, as Grombrindal explains over here).

A miniature Odyssey – Zombies?

While I was sitting brooding over the skeletons, I must have unconsciously grabbed a Mantic zombie and modified it with parts from the frame of the Victrix Peltasts. I probably played way too much Titan Quest over the years and now I think zombies would fit well into the Mortal Gods setting.

Weekend Update CW 26/2020

Earlier this week, Warlord Games announced Sea Monsters for Black Seas. Which is quite cool, as I was already looking for a white whale miniature. And I managed to clean up all of the schooners. Lot of pewter ... unfortunately rather soft pewter.

A miniature Odyssey – Bonus round

All right, I' ll admit it - this is the first time I' m looking forward to a project under time pressure. It's probably because I like the subject so much. I can literally see an army of the dead rising before me.

But even an army of the dead needs something to give it character - in the case of Mortal Gods Mythic, it is the fallen hero who is the counterpart to a Promachos.

A miniature Odyssey – Priest of Hades

The preparations for my Summer Project for Mortal Gods are in full swing and I hope to finish my bonus round before the first of July, if possible. I have already taken the first step on this path - the first priest of Hades is ready and I might add another one over the course of time.
