Blood Bowl – High Elves Team Part 1
We gave you an introduction on the stock for 3rd edition Blood Bowl High Elves and now it is time to muster a team for the Chaosbunker Blood Bowl League (CBL). We did it similar in the article on the Chaos-Team, with the fitting name "for the love of the game", and we will do the same now for the team from Ulthuan.
Unlike the chaos team, I don't need to strip the miniatures. They are cleaned, based and primed and basically ready to get painted. But that's the current problem - decisions over decisions on team names and colours.
Blood Bowl – 1994s High Elves Galadrieth Gladiators Team
The Mordheim Marauders qualified their franchise for the participation in the Chaosbunker Blood Bowl League (CBL), now it is time to see who Elves ... pardon, who else will join.
Next up is a team of High Elves and we're going to give you an introduction, just like we did with the 1994 Chaos All-Stars Team.
Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Magazine 04 to 07
The next shipment of the German Issues of Stormbringer by Hachette arrived, issues #04 to 07.
We showed you the initial shipment with the first three issues over here, and continue today with the next four issues, covering the first paints and further miniatures.
Made-to-Order Classic Bretonnian Characters
With some of the last waves for The Old World Games Workshop offered some models as made-to-order. I used this service in the past, for example with the Skaven characters or the Halfling Blood Bowl Team. Production time in the store is usually stated with 180 days, but they arrived within a few days after ordering, pre-brexit sometimes even the tuesday or wednesday after ordering them on a saturday.
Are they bargains? It depends on what you take as a baseline. They are certainly not cheap, but usually less than buying them on eBay and you don't have the remaining risk of buying an overpriced recast.
What is new about these, is that they actually have clam shell blister packs and not as often in the past, just the white boxes from the Mail Order. This leads me to believe, that at some point, we might see this in store and not just as a made-to-order / mail order exclusive product.
But what did I pick up? Under the new names they are Paladin with Hammer and Shield, Paladin with Sword and Shield and a Lord with Sword & Shield on Pegasus. The Paladins were 12 EUR each and the Pegasus 32,50 EUR. Certainly not cheap, the 12 EURs for the characters on foot is above what I would usually pay for these (about 6 Euros, maybe a bit more if unpainted and a pose that I really like), as for the Pegasus Lord, this one is rather uncommon and I have seen him usually above the 50 EUR bracket on eBay, so that was a reasonable offer and complete.
February 2024 review
Welcome to march, and a march it was.
I was able to finish book 20 of the Horus Heresy Audiobooks, which covers multiple stories on the Primarch ... and I was a bit surprised how much of a prick Johnson can be, but moved on to the next book, Fear to Tread, covering Sanguinus and the Blood Angels. Already about 25% through and with some hobby time on the weekend, will progress further.
The next shipment from Stormbringer arrived and we updated the overview, and will provide an unboxing like we did with issues 01 to 03. Of course the content will be part of the Warcry coverage.
Age of Sigmar Stormbringer – Kruleboyz Warcry Warband
We did it once - we do it again. Building a Warcry warband from the Stormbringer Magazine contents. As we started with the Stormcasts Eternals miniatures from the first three issues, we now build a small warband from the Kruleboyz from the same batch.
For this we need issue #01 and #02 from Stormbringer, covering a hero and a pack of 10 gutrippaz. And to build the Warcry warband, we need the Harbinger of Destruction PDF, where the rules for the Kruleboyz are included.
Age of Sigmar Stormbringer – Release Overview
We're taking the German Issues for a base of this article and will add further entries once they arrive. This is a collective post, pointing out the release dates and prices of the individual issues of Stormbringer in German.
The magazine is released weekly on wednesday. The subscribers receive their issues in combined shipmes for issue #1 to 3, #4 to 7 and after that every six magazines.
Shipment 1 (Subscription Bonus: modeling tool set, free Issue 3)
Issue 01 - 10.01.2024 - 2,99 EUR
Age of Sigmar Stormbringer – Warcry Stormcast Warband
As mentioned in the last article, we're building a Stormcast Warcry warband from the Stormbringer Magazine content and we're already able to muster a small one with the first few issues (actually two, if you use the Kruleboyz as well).
With the content of issue #1 and #3, we have six miniatures and we're going to build Vindictors and the Knight Arcanum. The instructions are included in the booklets, all models are push-fit (but I'd recommend using glue) and come with 40mm round bases.
January 2024 review
So that was January. Mixed weather, mixed health, put a check on it and continue.
We didn't do a Kick Off on the blog like last year, basically because I didn't have the time to come around to it. The month began busy with the very late arrival of The Old World (thanks to Brexit, the french distribution hub and UPS - woohoo). And in addition to be rushed, there is little satisfaction when the items you covered aren't even available. And that has unfortunately happened a few times now.
Anyhow, I prepared a few things for painting. Mostly small stuff, like Warmaster heroes to see what speaks to me the most, and a few Solar Auxilia for Legions Imperialis.
Age of Sigmar Stormbringer – What’s next?
In case you're starting collecting Age of Sigmar miniatures with the Stormbringer magazine series, either by buying individual issues or being a subscriber, it'll take a few months until you have enough for a full scale match of Age of Sigmar. So what to do in the meantime?
First of all, the magazines cover some rules for an entry level gaming experience, and that's - especially for newcomers - a reasonable way to start with. But if you're already familiar with wargaming that might just not be enough for the beginning. Obviously, as you are not restricted to the content of the magazines, you can just drop by your local gaming store (Warhammer or independent) and pick up some more miniatures, like a Start Collecting or Vanguard box.
