Ad Arma Con 2019 Part I

As promised, I headed down into the "Palz" to Meckenheim, to visit the Ad Arma Convention 2019. New location, moved from the Sportshall in Speyer to the Gymnasium in Meckenheim.

Parking was a bit of an issue, if you came a bit late, you had to park along side the road or on the otherside on the parking lot of a Greek restaurant. After you've paid the 6 EUR entry fee, added one of the show miniatures to it, received your wrist band and were handed the ballot for "best table of the show", you could enter the hall itself through those roll ups.

Warhammer Underworlds: Nightvault – Godsworn Hunt

Paired up with Mollog's Mob, the second warband that isn't part of a regular Age of Sigmar faction is introduced as a warband for Warhammer Underworlds: Nightvault - Godsworn Hunt.

Godsworn Hunt belongs to the chaos pantheon, but unlike the Reavers or Magore's Fiends, not devoted solely to Khorne, but part of the Darkoath. The Darkoath is so far covered by two miniatures in the Age of Sigmar range, with a Warqueen, as part of Malign Portent, and a Chieftain, who was introduced with Warhammer Quest. And they are covered in the Roll Models webcomics shown on Warhammer Community, and at best compared with the chaos marauder tribes of the Old World.

Warhammer Underworlds: Nightvault – Mollog’s Mob

During Warhammer Fest Europe last year the new season of Underworlds Nightvault was announced, we were told that factions would be introduced to the game that haven't been released for Warhammer or Age of Sigmar. Thus bringing us the warbands of Mollog's Mob and Godsworn Hunt.

Let's start with Mollog's Mob today. The warband was released early this year, but already previewed at Spiel in Essen, where it was shown fully painted during the event.

BLOOD BOWL – Journey of the Maulers: Tryouts

Match reports are always a double-edged sword in Blood Bowl. They are wonderfully entertaining, but the documentation and smoothing can cost a normal worker like me a whole week of free evenings. For this reason I`ll have only a small summary this time, but full reports will surely come at some time in the future. So what happened next during the Journey of the Maulers? I had painted a small bunch of fans to practice the color scheme and to give the sideline a bit more flair. The Maulers themselves had a strong staffing problem because their squad did not have enough players to play a regular Blood Bowl game yet. Some of the models were still in the Sterilium bath to get strip them of the old paint. So what do you do in this case when you are in the Blood Bowl world? Right, you're having a tryout!

An old friend of mine, Ralf Brockhausen, against whom I have already played some wonderful games, is kind of a hobby hero to me. Nearly 20 years ago, when you could barely find something about Blood Bowl in German-language forums, he worked on a small hobby project on tabletopwelt.de, in which he built a team of Ogres, the Schildweg Butchers (they can be seen in the article on solo campaigns).

Meanwhile, he is rather playing Blood Bowl 7s, a smaller version of the game that has been around for years but is not that common. In this variant, there are only seven players in the team and no re-rolls, which makes it a very fast and chaotic game. For his developing Norse team, he had built a stadium that looked just so great that we simply had to play a game!

May Dance

Just before German Labour Day, May 1st, the White Dwarf arrived along with the latest two warbands for Nightvault.

In addition I picked up the Citadel water pot at my local Warhammer store. If you're wondering about the cover, that's a subscription issue, where the artwork covers the whole front as a special service for the subscribers.

7th Rhein Main Multiversum 2019

Due to the so-so weather, I didn't take the scenic route through the Taunus towards Nidderau, just north-east of Frankfurt, but the Autobahn. Because once again and for the 7th time, the Tabletop Club Rhein-Main hosted their Rhein-Main Multiversum at the Willi-Salzmann hall during the whole weekend.

Conquerors of Mictlan

Beside the Last Patrol Kickstarter by Black Scorpion, I pledged the Conquerors of Mictlan campaign by Antediluvian Miniatures last year in September. It was supposed to be delivered in January 2019 - it wasn't. Dropped here in mid of march. For a range of miniatures, that were mostly done and only needed casting, that's mediocre project management.

Game of Thrones – A Song of Ice and Fire continues

As the Song of Ice and Fire continues tonight on HBO, beginning the final chapter of the Game of Thrones, it is a good time, to look into my own tale of Westeros.

Game of Thrones Mug - Winter Is Coming

There are two incredibly well done projects about A Song of Ice and Fire in 28mm. One is done by the famous Capt. Blood on Lead Adventure and the other one by the magnificent Don Voss on Sweetwater. There is even a list of other SoIaF/GoT themed projects on Lead Adventure.
