Gaslands – Roadblocks
To make my future Gaslands table more interesting, I have set out to create a few stylish terrain pieces in a Wasteland style. Originally I wanted to make the track boundaries more visible, as well as corners and obstacles.
Frostgrave – Wizards II Female Wizards
North Star and Osprey Games really spoil the Frostgrave player base, for a skirmisher we have access to much more than an average amount of plastic kits. Most would have been fine with the regular Wizards, but we even got a plastic kit, that I covered last week and then they even added another one, Frostgrave Wizards II, bringing us even more options and most notably female wizards.
You still have access to a broad selection of wizard, covering the wizard and an apprentice each, for 6 GBP per blister pack. This second Frostgrave Wizards plastic kit gives you similar to the first one the opportunity to build 8 miniatures for 15 GBP.
Gaslands – New week, new wreck
My latest terrain piece, made from a recycled Nissan Titanium, is finished and I had so much fun with it that I decided to do another piece in the same style right away. This time I won't take a hotwheel apart though. In fact, a recently purchased monster truck was already accompanied by a wreck that has no other purpose than to drive over it.
As you can see I added a few small details to cover a some holes that are actually connectors for other wrecks. To the hole in the front I glued a few rods to make it look like a rudimentary radiator grill.
Oathmark – Goblin Wolf Riders
After covering the infantry kits of Oathmark, today we have the opportunity to show the first cavalry set of the range - Goblin Wolf Riders. These were released only a few weeks ago.
If you're not familiar with Oathmark. It is a project by Osprey Games and Northstar Military Figures, with Renedra covering the casting. The full name is Oathmark - Battles of the Lost Age and it is going for a 28mm mass combat range, with rank & file regiments and a few characters. I haven't had the chance to look into the rules yet.
Frostgrave – Wizards
North Star and Osprey Games did land quite a hit with Frostgrave, and with the second edition coming up later this year, I thought it would be a good idea to catch up on some of the available plastic kits - beginning with the Wizards plastic kit.
The Frostgrave range already covers a broad selection of wizard blisters, covering the wizard and an apprentice each, for 6 GBP each. But to give you more flexibility in building and equipping your own wizards, they released a plastic kit covering 8 miniatures for 15 GBP.
Gaslands – Pretty broken
On with my first off-road piece for Gaslands. When I disassembled the car, I discovered a little surprise - the Nissan Titan actually did have a music system modelled inside. Although I knew that it would not be seen, I could not resist the temptation to paint it. If I discover such a small addition in one of the Hotwheel cars again, I will probably cut it out and install it somewhere visible on another car.
With the seats, I knew that you could see them through the lowered windows and so I painted the upper side like old, worn leather. I approached the chassis using a proven method, with the windows first.
Gaslands – First terrain pieces
It's a mystery to me how this happens, but I have the feeling that if you keep searching long enough, one or the other toy car will turn up at every household. Such a miracle happened the other day when I was cleaning up at home, where I discovered this Nissan Titan by chance. From the beginning on, the car looked so ugly and lowered to me, that it looked like a broken car even before I could tinker with it.
Weekender – Home Office Week 3
We went into the post-ww2-war era this week, with two reviews covering the Korean War, and the far future of Gaslands and the Horus Heresy. And I've taken the pictures for two upcoming Beastgrave reviews.
Gaslands – Final touch
We're in the next round in Gaslands - last week I showed you the first steps in painting the car and today we'll finish it as promised. The base colour for the chassis was Plague Brown. But before I started to set the accents I made sure I separated all parts by mixing Parasite Brown and Black. With this I traced all the ridges on the car. Parasite Brown was also the color I used for the shadows. I mixed Parasite Brown about 50/50 with Lahmian Medium to create a wash.
" I said YELLOW! This isn't yellow!" shouted the freelancer angrily.
The pretty repairwoman smiled gloatingly and said:
"Freelancer, you just don't listen - I told you I'll fix your car and the parts will be available in any colour as long as it's Rutherford Green."
Weekender – Home Office Week 2
We're closing on week 2 in the home office. So what happened since the last weekend update? We had two reviews this week, supported some local stores, stocked up on candy and craftbeer, ordered at three miniature companies / FLGS that are currently missing out on sales due to closure and cancelled events.
