Legions Imperialis – Solar Auxilia Shadowswords, Stormblades and Stormswords Squadron
On this day three new plastic kits are going for pre-order for Legions Imperialis, for Astartes the Sicaran Arcus and Punisher, for Solar Auxilia a new Leman Russ kit with the Executioner and Demolisher and a Shadowsswords, Stormblades and Stormswords kit. The last one is the one, which we are going to cover today.
The Shadowsword multi-kit is the third super heavy set for the Solar Auxilia in Legions Imperialis, after the Baneblade/Hellhammer and Stormhammer kits.
With the last price raise, these kits went up from 40 to 41 EUR, or 31,50 GBP from 30 GBP, covering two identical sprues, an instruction leaflet and a black and white decal sheet.
These vehicles are tank destroyers build upon the Baneblade chassis, where as "tank" destroyer isn't the proper name for those, as they are clearly can be used against them but are uparmoured to fight against knights, titans and fortifications. The chassis is very versatile and depending on what they are intended to fight, there are different variants using different weapon systems, some of which are even mounted on titans.
July 2024 review
Welcome to August, and let us look back to July.
While I even managed to squeeze in a paint-meetup with my buddy Lukas, to get some progress on my Caledor Dragons, I unfortunately have to throw in the towel regarding the 18 miniatures in 3 month competition, as I really didn't get that much done on that Blood Bowl Team this month.
Road to CONflict – Part VII
You could see my progress on the tanks in the last article, Road to CONflict - Part VI, and now we were on the final steps just days away from CONflict 2024. In part IV I gave you the overview on the terrain files I printed for our demo table.
Grabbed a variety of green tones to paint the base colours, and moved on to the further scatter terrain and mines.
Warcry – Briar and Bone
It is time to take a look upon the next Warcry boxed set, Briar and Bone. It was previewed on Adepticon in March of this year, and is a new set with two warbands and a larger piece of terrain, picking up the Gnarlwood theme again.
In our last review, Hunter and Hunted, a Gorger Mawpack and Wildercorps Hunters fought each other, in Briar and Bone it is the Sylvaneth and Ossiarch Bonereapers, who are the opposing forces.
Road to CONflict – Part VI
And on we go, after adding the base colours to the tanks in the last part of our Road to CONflict, we applied the first weathering and first coat of wash onto the models, in this case Army Painters Dark Tone.
Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Magazine 26 to 31
Last tuesday the 6th shipment of the German Stormbringer by Hachette, delivering the issues 26 to 31, including miniatures and paints.
Re-Enter the Space Hulk – In Space No One Can Hear You Scream
Back in 2009 I reviewed the third edition of Space Hulk, and it was a "limited" release back then and Games Workshop really took that seriously, that the reprinted the boxed set for a limited amount of boxes multiple times over the following years, as the 4th edition in 2014, and another print run in 2016. The actual limitation was that the translations didn't receive a reprint, and the releases in the 2010s were just available in English.
Yet, we want to re-enter the Space Hulk, as I own the third edition and got a bunch of new designed Indomitus Terminators from the individual kit and Deathwing Assault, and I want to do a retro-mod using these new, upscaled sculpts and move away from the Blood Angels in the same step.
Necromunda – Hive Secundus
Games Workshop adds the third theatre to the Necromunda Underhive with the latest supplement - Hive Secundus.
This new stand-alone starter set throws the gangs of Necromunda into Hive Secundus, providing you with everything you need to get started, two different gangs, a rule book, dice, templates and markers, along with some basic terrain at a RRP of 110 GBP/ 145 EUR.
Blood Bowl – Caledor Dragons Part 2
Well, here we are. I enrolled the High Elves Blood Bowl Team of the Caledor Dragons on the 18 miniatures in 3 month challenge, a project that I painted my Realm of Chaos Beastman warband for back in the day,
Between the four team names (Chrace Lions, Ellyrian Stallions, Lothern Sea Serpents and Caledor Dragons) and six different colour schemes, the Caledor Dragons made the cut, with a jersey picking up the theme of the Dragon Princes of Caledor from the Middlehammer era.
June 2024 review
A slightly postponed recap of June. While I was able to write up our visit to FeenCon at beginning of this month, a prolonged family weekend followed up by a few days of the flu changed my schedule.
First things first - the Horus Heresy audiobooks are back on spotify, and while that was in clarification between the license holders, I went to Bookbeat, as they have the audiobooks as well- by the way if you use the code "60tgratis" when you register, you get two months for free not just one. I'm currently listening to Betrayer, where the Word Bearers and World Eaters fight alongisde, attacking the realm of Ultramar, more precisely Armatura.
