GrimDarkTerrain – Imperial Palace Ruins
What a journey GrimDarkTerrain has taken. Back in 2019 I stumbled upon an instagram post, and now 4 years later there is a full range of STL files to choose from. The entire range was designed with Adeptus Titanicus in mind, and we had multiple buildings in use during our Battle for Uulda campaign weekend.
But with the release of Legions Imperialis, the releases of September, October and December 2023 are very interesting and deserve a closer look. Especially after we pointed out, what we need for a start.
GrimDarkTerrain has various ranges, the Imperial Palace is really self explaining, with Aeolus for air fields, Ares for fortifications, Argos for bunkers and turrets, Mytelene for fortresses, Olympus Mons for Mechanicum terrain and Pyraeus for supply and infrastructure.
Da Red Gobbo Surprise and Grotmas Gitz
This year Games Workshop offers two Christmas miniatures, that are available until January 8th of 2024. In addition to Da Red Gobbo himself, as Da Red Gobbos Surprise in its 2023 iteration, we get a kind of Bad Santa variant to him, the Grotmas Gitz.
Both are 32,50 EUR / 25 GBP and have rules for the use in Warhammer 40,000 as well as Age of Sigmar, as downloads for free. But what is the story behind Da Red Gobbo?
Legions Imperialis – Let us build a city
After providing an overview on the Civitas Imperialis range by Games Workshop we want to take a look into how terrain works in Legions Imperialis, what we need and what might have changed in comparison to for example Adeptus Titanicus.
The most obvious difference is, that the eye-level of the units has changed. While in Titanicus you have maniples of Titans, and you need buildings tall enough to provide cover for these huge machines, this gets much closer to ground with Legions Imperialis.
Legions Imperialis – Point values of the 1st wave
As this question was asked more often, a quick overview, where you land with the items from the first wave.
A few things up front
- No, the starter set can not be combined into one large legal army as they Primary and Ally army split is 70/30 of points. There is a special formation for quick starter games, that is not meant for matched play.
- You can mix multiple Astartes Legions into one army, as they don't count into the allied contingent if your primary list is Astartes
- The 30% allied contingent count against anything that is not your primary army list. The Aeronautica units of your primary army are usually air support and don't count against the allied contingent.
Bolt Action Campaign Case Blue
The next supplement for Bolt Action is on our table - Campaign Case Blue, covering the summer offensive into the southern region of the Ostfront.
Campaign Case Blue was released in late October 2023, much early than initially anticipated. As the communicated release date was January 9th of 2024. Along with Campaign Stalingrad and Road to Berlin this book completes the coverage on the Eastern Front even further.
Legions Imperialis – Mustering the Solar Auxilia
We showed you how the army building in Legions Imperialis works with the example of an Astartes army. And we want to pick up the idea and build and extend the other half of the starter kit, the Solar Auxilia.
The four steps are the same:
- Declare Allegiance
- Choose Primary Army List
- Assemble Compulsory Formations
- Complete the Army
November 2023 review
Welcome to december - the last few weeks of 2023. But start with some proper good news. CRISIS is back!
The once largest wargaming convention on the european mainland returns in an adapted variant. The pauses of Covid and the barriers due to Brexit took a toll on the show and thus forced the organisators to look for alternatives. In 2022 they went for LARDwerp, with a similar format in 2023. But in the next year the Tinsoldiers of Antwerp will colaborate with the HQ Gaming Club to organise a new show on November 2nd, as usual the first weekend in November. And we're already excited to be there.
Legions Imperialis – Civitas Imperialis Capitol
On Warhammer Community they showed a new diorama in Legions Imperialis scale that is exhibited at Warhammer World. And one of the center pieces is this capitol building, that caught the eye of many.
Legions Imperialis – Release Day!
Today Legions Imperialis has officially landed. Now everybody should have regular access to the boxes they pre-ordered and in case you're wondering what all the fuzz is about and if you should get more than just rules, here's an overview.
Legions Imperialis - Unboxing of the Core Set
Legions Imperialis – Civitas Imperialis
Terrain worth fighting over. This is something Games Workshop has provided with the Civitas Imperialis range already for Adeptus Titanicus and they are picking this up again for Legions Imperialis. I did reviews on these back in the day, the sprues are back and they have a lot of option.

The idea of this article is to give you an overview, what they contain as they are very similar named and a deal on the first sight, might not be that much of bargain once you had time to compare.
