February 2022 review
Welcome to March and let's take a look back on February. We're going to keep it strictly wargames related.
I continuted my work on my Chaos Blood Bowl team, the Mordheim Marauders. I'm currently preparing part 3 and in the middle of step 3 (partially done the highlights from that phase and a clean up of the bases). Guess another week or so, and I should have them finished. Already eyeing on the project after that.
Necromunda – Water supply
After writing about the Ash Wastes coming to Necromunda, I felt the urge to build some terrain. I stocked up on some kits lately, and bought these two sprues from eBay.
But why the need for more terrain in Necromunda? I already have a truck load of bulk heads to recreate the classic kits along with some of the older 40k terrain kits. But to me, I always wondered, if Necromunda is about gang war, trying to sabotage the operations of the other houses, damage the production capacities and keep the rival house from fulfilling their commitments towards the guilds or higher houses. So why aren't didn't we see actuall production facilities? Mine shafts, melting pots, production lines or other industrial terrain, and not just shells of multi-level towers with walkways.
Necromunda – The Ash Wastes are calling
I managed to close the gaps in my Necromunda collection mostly in 2021, with only two poses of Goliath and a upper body of a GorkaMorka Mutie left. This is something that I have time with, but with new Ash Wastes supplement for Necromunda announced at the Las Vegas Open it gets more interesting again.
This is an appealling pick up, and I'm really eager to see, what this addition brings to the game. Yet, Ash Wastes is nothing new to Necromunda and was part of the Fanatic Games releases about 15 to 20 years ago covered, in a probably much smaller scale. But it is very interesting, and I am thinking on how to implement this part into my own campaign.

You read the introduction of the Mordheim Marauders in the first part, I had them primed and started painting, keeping close to my recipe for Beastmen from the Realm of Chaos Warband.

January 2022 review
Oh boy, we've already made it past the first month. That went quickly and it feels like march is already in reach.
January was pretty dominated on Blood Bowl - and I love it.
Thanks to Radaddel for the quick delivery. I stocked up on supplies, only to have the first brush mess up after only 30 seconds. I basically only removed the tube, dipped it in the paint and - bam - the bristle is standing off.
Blood Bowl – 1994s Chaos All-Stars Team
I've talked about the start of a new league franchise, and while the team owners are battling over which Chaos team will start in the new CBL (Chaosbunker Bloodbowl League), let's see how the roster is set up.
The league is set up around the miniatures from the 3rd edition of Blood Bowl, which was released in 1994 and partially updated beginning in the 2000's. Blood Bowl was a side-game produced by Games Workshop directly back in the day, later moved to Fanatic Games / Specialist Games and nowadays split between Games Workshop and Forge World.
The initial White Dwarf issue was UK Issue #174 in April 1994, to introduce the new boxed starter game and retiring the 1987 boxed set, that was quite popular, covered plastic miniatures, had an astrogranite matchfield and even a Dungeon Bowl supplement, that added even more plastic miniatures to the game.
Somewhen back a lot of years ago, I got one of these for my collection, but during slimming down my stock I handed it over to my oldest wargaming buddy Indigo. But one item, that I'll always cherish is my first ever wargaming boxed set, a german copy of the Blood Bowl boxed set, that I still own. I managed to keep it complete, yet a bit beaten around the edges, but hey, it's in my collection for 25 years and the components used over and over again.
Bolt Action – Italian Army and Blackshirts
Warlord Games released a new plastic boxed set, Italian Army & Blackshirts, to accompany the latest campaign supplement Soft Underbelly (review on its way - book stuck in transit ... somewhere). And it is not just multi-part plastic but gives you the option to build Italian forces for early and mid-war in Europe and North Africa, along with Black Shirts.
Blood Bowl – For the love of the game
Blood Bowl was my first love in tabletop wargames, and by that has a nearly untouchable stand in my collection. It was one of the easiest to write the evaluation about, and I set up a "new" season / franchise back last year when I completed my collection from the third edition (1994 to 2000).
I stay with the nostalgia and will keep it with the third edition teams, miniatures and rules. In addition with having Blood Bowl gifted to me on Christmas 1996, during that time, for a few seasons, I watched the World League of American Football, later NFL Europe, with my dad on a regular basis.
Kick Off 2022
So, let us kick off into 2022! We did a sum up of the last year earlier this week, now let's focus on the new year and opportunities.

As we're wargaming dads and most of our wargaming friends are, time is a precious commodity, that should be well spent. That means for us, having a fun time around our hobby; narrative scenarios, painted miniatures, foods, drinks and not having to argue about a dice throw or manoeuvring motion.
With that in mind, you'll find articles on mid to late 90's Games Workshop on here, Bolt Action, and some other game systems not from Nottingham, coverage on conventions, shows and day trips.
