Mortal Gods: Zombie Reinforcements
Hard to believe, but the reinforcements for my Army of Hades are ready. The army shown here is the standard game size of 300 points and in given time we will also talk a bit about the composition of the army, since I will, of course, eventually bring the army to 500 points.
For now, however, 300 points are enough, since I also want to paint my mortal army. When I add mythical troops to it, both factions will grow to the size intended for Mythic.
Twelve months, 20,- Euros – Part 1
There is hardly a hobbyist who doesn't have a certain stock of leftover minis at home. In my case, this used to be for a growing bitzbox, but since then, a whole series of unfinished projects have also come along. Since my "Pile of Shame" is already quite large, I thought of a strategy at the beginning of the year to reduce it and at the same time prevent it from growing again. The idea was simple:
Every month I have a budget of 20,- € for my hobby.
With this limit I' d like to achieve that I dedicate myself to my old projects, and at best increase them instead of starting any new ones. Long story short - fight the unpainted minis! In my annual review I already mentioned that the first thing I want to do is to finish my Mortal Gods Hades army. For this I need two squads of zombies that I've already startedn and one base with skeletons.
Tutorial – Painting Bronze
In the German-speaking Facebook group for the Footsore products I was recently asked how I paint bronze. The answer is quite simple and is as so often: it depends. Depending on what you paint, there are different ways to paint bronze. In the following I will show you how I paint bronze parts on undead.
First of all, I didn't use a common metallic paint here, but mixed one. Why all this, when there are ready-made metallic paints? Well, metallic paints have a few annoying properties - they tend to pull skin quickly, or are too thick or too runny. They don't always cover well and are hard to control.
Dino’s Annual Summary 2020
As regular visitors of the Chaosbunker will have noticed, there have been rather few articles from my hand lately, which is why it's time to approach the year 2021 with a little more consistency and regularity. For many it is certainly no surprise when I say that 2020 was rather mediocre, but let's take a look at it together...
This was 2020
Basically, the year didn't start out bad at all. I went into my ongoing projects with a lot of motivation, wanting to both start a new gang for Frostgrave and finish the one I'd already started.
A miniature Odyssey – Dromeas
Here, on the top of the fortress of Akrokorinth, Dromeas had a good view of the city. He knew the route well. Not long ago, he had run it several times a day when he had trained with his father for the Olympic Games. But now he was alone and without money to live on. All of a sudden and without warning his father had died.
Three days ago he had finally made a decision. Dromeas had turned down the offer to work in the fields. He could not believe in the natural death of his father. But whom had his father made an enemy? Whoever it was, before Dromeas could find the guilty and bring him to justice, he had to change from being an athlete to becoming a warrior. He had sold the small house on the western foothills of Corinth and bought an old shield and helmet with his last money. The spear was still from the days when his father was a soldier himself.
Now he sat patiently in the shade of a tree and waited to be picked up by Axon's mercenaries.
Journey of the Maulers: Vultures in the sky
The regulations for Corona are tightening again and the next Blood Bowl edition is just around the corner. Reason enough to put my foot down and give you a short summary of the pre-to-last game of the first season of the reformed team of the Maulers.
As usual, I used as many special rules as possible in this match and so it took place in a rpough and ready stadium. Our league reporter Mocky Python has remarked that the Blood Bowl games of ambitious teams in the lower leagues are not for a continuous broadcast, so you'll only see a highligtreel here.
Rough and Ready Stadium
Unclear Markings: The kicking team can move the center line one field forward or backward. Also, as many players as you like can be placed in the side zones.
A miniature Odyssey – Greek stories
Now that I've written a few articles about Mortal Gods and have built an army of Hades for the Mythic expansion, I've had a few thoughts on how to introduce the system. The game is still quite young ( just released in 2019 ) and I would like to familiarize new readers with it a bit better. And what is the best way to do that? A story!
Journey of the Maulers: The Corona Games
Meanwhile probably everyone has felt the effects of this virulent plague, no matter in which area. Unfortunately this has also had a strong influence on the season of the Maulers. I had already planned a few matches that cannot take place now. As a father of two children, grandparents as neighbors and a pregnant woman who is not allowed to take medication, I had to find an alternative for the remaining three matches of the first Maulers season to avoid exposing my loved ones to unnecessary risk.
The fans want to watch games, Corona or not
Coincidentally I have three painted teams standing here and so I tried something that I usually only do to learn rule mechanics - I played against myself. At first it seemed strange to me, but with the new edition on the horizon, time to finish the season is running out and playing a video game on the computer isn't really different.
A miniature Odyssey – Fresh Meat
After finishing my Summer Project in the last article, I have to say that I have developed a taste for it and would like to expand my army of Hades. All in all, the experience of a team project was very motivating and I would like to give the army a little more variety.
Well, what goes well with skeletons? Sure, zombies! For this purpose I snatched some zombies from Mantic from Gregor, who participated in the summer project with his indigenous tribes.
A miniature Odyssey – The Gates of Hades…
…have opened and the last block for the Summer Project 2020 is finished. Since I already had some practice with the skeletons from Warlord Games, it didn't take long to paint the last six of them.
