A miniature Odyssey – With Spear and Shield

When you think of ancient Greece, you simply cannot help but think of a Hoplite armed with a shield and spear. Logically many Hoplites died in the battles and so it is not surprising that I painted some skeletons with exactly this combination of weapons for the second block for the summer project.

Blood Bowl – Old World Alliance & Underworld Denizens Pitch

Since a few weeks the Blood Bowl setting has been expanded with a revised Underworld roster and a new Old World Alliance roster. As with almost every team release, special play cards, dice and a pitch come along too. In this review we take a closer look at the latter.

The product costs, depending on the retailer you order it from, about 30,- € and comes in a sturdy packaging. The contents are the typical cardboard for dugouts, the field itself, a foam inlay that prevents the longer dugout from snapping, and the packaging that can be used as a practical slipcase.

A miniature Odyssey – Block 1? Done!

A month has passed and I am really happy that I managed to finish the first block for the Summer Project before the time ran out. Skeletons are a bit unspectacular themselves, so there is not much to tell about them despite the successful completion of this stage.

A miniature Odyssey – Our arrows…

…will bloat out the sun!!! The first half of the first block is done. I have to say that the whole thing turned out to be more difficult than expected. The first step was still relatively easy, the skeletons were completely washed with Sepia, and partially with Devlan Mud and Black.

After that I tried to emphasize some of the accents with Bone again and then with White. But here I already got to the first hurdle - I just can't paint the same thing for so long and so I had to split the first block earlier than I thought.

A miniature Odyssey – Start of the Summer Project

Finally I can start with the summer project of the TabletopWelt board and paint my army of Hades! Although I'm not sure yet if this is a good or a bad thing, because, as I already mentioned a few times, I have to paint 18 miniatures in three months, which I usually don't even manage in a year.

So there's this bunch of skeletons and I have to commit to the first of three blocks. I think it will be best to start with the archers, because they also contain the most non-metallic colors - the arrows, the quiver and the bow.

A miniature Odyssey – Zombies?

While I was sitting brooding over the skeletons, I must have unconsciously grabbed a Mantic zombie and modified it with parts from the frame of the Victrix Peltasts. I probably played way too much Titan Quest over the years and now I think zombies would fit well into the Mortal Gods setting.

A miniature Odyssey – Bonus round

All right, I' ll admit it - this is the first time I' m looking forward to a project under time pressure. It's probably because I like the subject so much. I can literally see an army of the dead rising before me.

But even an army of the dead needs something to give it character - in the case of Mortal Gods Mythic, it is the fallen hero who is the counterpart to a Promachos.

A miniature Odyssey – Priest of Hades

The preparations for my Summer Project for Mortal Gods are in full swing and I hope to finish my bonus round before the first of July, if possible. I have already taken the first step on this path - the first priest of Hades is ready and I might add another one over the course of time.

Frostgrave: A Sword and Sorcery Adventure – Part 6

"But Dino, you haven't even finished your other warband" I can hear you say and yes, of course you are right, but with the second warband I am able to meet a few more goals.

On the one hand I got these two ladies from Nick Eyre of North Star Military Figures, under the premise to paint them and leave the pictures to him. I am happy about that, because the female wizards' box is really snazzy and it was no problem to create a witch and her pupil from it.

A miniature Odyssey – Harryhausen’s best

Aaaah, skeletons, a real classic! I think everyone of us has encountered these stereotypical villains in some way or another, be it in computer games, movies, or during a very old-fashioned walk through the haunted house at the fair. In my case, the image has been formed by the classic Jason and the Argonauts movie, of which you can still easily find film scenes on YouTube.
