Oldhammer Undeads by The Assault Group / White Knight
In summer I traded some of my Rogue Trader Genestealer Cults in and got a small Oldhammer undead warband. I was looking into the gaps, that I was missing, for example some Zombies to fill up the ranks.
But old doesn't mean good in automatically, and the old Zombies from the early and mid 90s didn't really appeal to me. So I went out and looked around, what miniatures would be a good replacement or stand in.
White Dwarf in November
Last friday the current issue arrived at the 'bunker and close to christmas the White Dwarf comes with some interesting goodies. The issue came in a card board sleeve, incl. an artprint and four bonus cards for multiple games.
Price stays the same at 8 EUR. And the cover is the special one delivered with the subscription issues. The cards cover a Strategem for Adeptus Titanicus, a Special Play for Blood Bowl, a card for Warhammer Underworlds and an Ace for Aeronautica Imperialis.
Crisis 2019 – Part III
Let's start with the last set of pictures in part III of the Crisis 2019 coverage.
Naval wargaming, even with the recent introduction of Cruel and Black Seas is still rare, the more I was happy to see this ancient table by the La ligue des Gentlemen Civilisateurs.
Crisis 2019 – Part II
Continuing the coverage on Crisis with another set of 50 pictures in part II.
The League of Augsburg showed The War of Three Kings on a proper teddy-bear gaming mat. I like the different heights, with hills and valleys, they included ins this battlefield.
Crisis 2019 – Part I
Not the usual first weekend in November, but the second was the date for Crisis this year, due to the holidays and a Halloween Party at the Waagnatie. So Crisis 2019 was held on the weekend of November 9th in Antwerp.
Clear blue sky over Flandern. My 7th Crisis and Dino's first one, so headed over to the show and were excited about this years tables, offers and novelties. We were there a bit early, so we got lucky in the parking lot and the queue.
Crisis 2019 haul
Back from yet another successful show - CRISIS 2019! It was amazing short weekend in Antwerp, great company, enjoyed a lot of good chats. The show managed to withstand the troubles of Brexit, include lots of traders from both sides of the channel and a pretty filled Bring & Buy.
I'll cover the show itself in a couple of articles of their own, as usual and as in the past. But this one, is about my haul from the show.
Adeptus Titanicus – Questoris Knights with Thunderstrike Gauntlets and Rocket Pods
The Imperial Knights receive an upgrade and now have full access to the armoury of the Questoris Knights, incl. the new Thunderstrike Gauntlets and Rocket Pods.
Black Seas – 3rd Rates Squadron
In addition to the Frigates and Brigs from earlier this week, I want to cover the third plastic sprue as well - the 3rd rates. These are currently available as a squadron of 3 in a boxed set.
The name third rate comes from the British rating of ships of the line. A third rate ship of the line would usually have 64 to 80 guns mounted, thus making it less gunned than a second rate ship (90 to 98 guns) and first rates with 100 guns and more (so far only available as resin models by Warlord Games.), both usually have an additional gun deck, sometimes even two in case of the first rates.
Black Seas – Frigates and Brigs Flotilla
After expanding Bolt Action into the naval combat with Cruel Seas, Black Powder benefits from a similar treatment and is expanded into the Age of Sails with the new Black Seas ruleset. Warlord Games introduced three new plastic sprues with ships in 1/700th scale of which we're going to cover the Frigates and Brigs today.
These sprues are part of the Master & Commander starter set as well, but are available as a Flotilla for 20 GBP and cover two Frigates and four Brigs.
Of Kings, Knights and Halloween on the Black Seas
It is the Halloween weekend and I thought that I had seen a horror-scenario for Black Seas, but I am unable to find it. Anyhow, there is Dreadfleet, of which I used the battle mat from the boxed set already with Cruel Seas.
Dreadfleet was a bit of a surprise back in 2011, when it was released as a stand-alone boxed-set. The rumours lead many to believe, that we would see a re-release of 1993's Man-o-War.
